sub selection for kicker key 500.1 already wasted a kicker 8"

I do have some NVX and SWS 8"'s but i think i might go with that memphis.. i think i'm going to want a little more bass then an 8"

I bought the entry level 250w RMS 8" NVX VSW to see if it would work in the Bazooka Bass Tube, it did not. I built it's proper ported box but it was still too little bass in my extended cab. It may work better in a hatchback style vehicle but I have not tried it out.

I'll probably try that 12" memphis first and see how well that kicker pushes.

makes sense on the bronco forum i have a guy telling me i need to look into forscan (ford tuning) to adjust the levels/frequencies etc. for the sub.

Maybe i'll do both lol now to find a sub that would match the box better.. any suggestions?

forscan wont hurt, but dont think that is really the issue. People go into forscan to get a flat signal out. You also have key which does some adjustment to the output. Again, you could look at it to see if Ford put some big peak or boost somewhere.

Well the end result for my bronco was keeping the kicker key 500.1 and running a wire to use an external box. So far .. I'm very happy. That little amp is impressively powerful for how small it is. It bounces these Memphis 10"'s easily and puts out big clean bass.

I did try a sundown amp I had but I couldn't get it to sound good vs this kicker amp.. quite different.

I have a set of Memphis 12's as well but not sure that amp can push those so might just stick with the 10's .. although I think the 12's are less watts then the the 10's.

Anyway.. pics show what all i did.
