I'd rather have America making its own oil in 10 years than still be buying it from other nations in 10 years... The here and now isn't all that's important //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gifyeah, open up drilling. That will surely help in the 10 years in takes to get to max production...
But yet, that's the exact reason people are for it because they don't understand the implications. In those 10 years we could spend building production of oil, we could be well on our way to finding alternative sources of energy that will not destroy the environment (at least as badly).I'd rather have America making its own oil in 10 years than still be buying it from other nations in 10 years... Who says we can't do both at the same time? We can have our cake and eat it too. Drill now, work on alternatives in the meantime, and when alternative fuels become cost-effective, make the switch and phase out petroleum. But yet, that's the exact reason people are for it because they don't understand the implications. Yeah sure, invest billions of dollars in offshore drilling and also invest billions of dollars in energy research. Do you think money just grows on trees? Jesus, we have the largest deficit in the history of this nation, the middle east wars are speculated to cost between 2 and 3 trillion dollars and you want us to not only invest large sums of money into both offshore drilling and alternative fuel research? The time to cut back on fossil fuels is here, and doing more isn't quite helping that issue.Who says we can't do both at the same time? We can have our cake and eat it too. Of course we can't do that. Makes too damn much sense.
