My point was, that much of CA is overpaying for what they are getting. The increase in wage is not enough for how much extra they have to pay for things. For instance, TN has the 2nd lowest effective tax in all the land. Which makes our purchasing power that much greater.

aren't there a lot of new businesses opening up down there? i've been contemplating moving down to tennessee. been hearing a lot of business has been going down there, low property costs, and i'd still be relatively close to michigan

I was actually being serious.
The average factory worker in TN makes aprox $22/hr. I would assume the avg factory worker in CA does not make signifcantly more.
