hello im in the process of my first fiberglass box for my r type 12s and i have 7 layers at the moment using 1.5 oz. matt i was wondering how many more i should add its preddy **** stiff as it is and ive seen that most people use around 7 layers but ide like anyones opinion! thanksalot!

For flat areas you need more because it will tend to flex, for rounded areas you can go with less and have the same strength. I believe 1/4 inch of fiberglass is equivelent to 3/4 inch mdf. Not sure how many layers it takes to achieve 1/4 inch though. The more the better and the stronger it will be. It will also sound better.

Depends on the shape of the fiberglass and how big it is....but 7 should be fine....although it never hurts to had another layer or 2. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

might hurt his wallet depending on how old he is =)

if ya wanna, just make some kinda support from top to bottom inside if there are large flat pieces. they do tend to flex alot. i put down ~5 layers for my kick panels, and they are stiff as all hell.

i think you should be fine with 7~8 layers on large flat areas, and 4~6 on smaller- curvy areas.

dont forget, if the sub is in, and its flexing a little. you can always add more after your done!

You need to take into account what weight mat and or cloth your using too. When i build sub enclosures, I usually only use two to three layers. But I'm using 17 oz. kyntex biaxial, two layers and my fat a$$ can jump up and down on it. Three layers and you can park a car on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif But with 1.5oz mat seven layers should be sufficient. If you still have flexing, resin in some strips of rope for some ribs. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
