Smaller sub for fast beats...

I have 2 12'' Comp VR's right now, I havent installed them yet, and I am going to get a Hifonics BX1205d mono block amp. (1200 wattsx1 @1ohm)

So the CVRs are rated at 400 each, but I have been told they could take the 1200 watts together. Anyways, I was considering getting either an 8, or 10 inch sub, as a third sub, for faster bass beats (mostly for when I listen to rock)

I planned on porting the CVR box, for louder/deeper base, but also loose some SQ.

Basically the 8, or 10 inch sub would be for SQ.

I was hoping I wouldnt have to get another amp, but I am just curious as to what you would do.

Well, somebody has to say it so I will.

Subwoofer size has NOTHING to do with how "fast" it hits. Well, I guess I shouldnt say nothing (just to please the nit-pickers), but it is not porportional by any means and as far as you need to know, it has NOTHING to do with it.

So, I know sub size has basically nothing to do with how fast it hits...

I really worded this wrong...So I will try and clear things up.

I want another sub, aside from the CVR's that would hit faster. The reason I would prefer 8, or 10 inch, is because they are typically cheaper/require less power/taking less room.

Bah, I know I sound like a complete noob, and I am for the most part....But, again, one more time, the point is I want another sub for faster beats. Either an 8, or 10 inch.

You have to work on your wording...

You could make the CVR's sound "faster" - you said you haven't even installed them yet! By changing the Qtc of the enclosure, you could tailor the sound you get to something that could work very well for rock.

I think the correct title for this thread should be, "best enclosure for fast beats".
I know I could install different, I already have decided how I am making my box, and it is basically purely for SPL.

I am pretty confident that the CVRs, with the box, wouldnt be able to handle really fast beats.

Subs really dont vary much in how "fast" they hit. That is going to vary with the enclosure many times more. If you box has a crappy transient response, its not going to matter how great the sub is, it will still fail to reproduce the material well due to the box. And why an SPL box if you seem concerned with SQ and listen to rock mainly? You should be going towards a flat response for rock IMO, aka a nice sealed box.

No, I mostly listen to rap. About 90% of the time. But, I (its kinda weird) go on binges of listening to nothing but rock. I guess I am kinda asking for the impossible it sounds like, with having both SPL and SQ. Even if they are in 2 different boxes.

they usually call that SQL. sound quality at high volumes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif i think regardless, you need to tune your box roughly at 38 hz. it should give you a nice sound in all areas of music (rap, rock etc...) it might not be able to hit songs that drop down to around low 30 hz. but for the most part it should sound good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
