Should Mods have Temporary Ban Powers?

Hell, give it to one moderator. Say Steve. And he could only use it if we all voted and agreed on it.

But what if steve isn't on the site at the time? At least 3-4 members need to have the ability.

I think we should have temp ban powers.....for situations like last night. 24-48hr ban, that goes into a que for Goob to review and decide whether the ban should be permanent/remain temporary/removed completely.

Goob is a smart guy. If he thinks the ban powers are being abused, he can easily remove them again.

The sad thing is goob doesn't trust you enough to give it to you. Every other forum I've been to the mods have the power to ban permanently or temporary. Even IP bans. But for whatever reason it isn't like that here. I think a lot of the b/s would come to an end if more was done. But users like chinny know that the mods have limited power and all they can do is delete his post.

Considering some of the problems I've had in the past, if I can agree that mods should get temporary ban powers, then goob should have no problem agreeing.

ive said that from the beginning. a couple mods went totally apeshit when they got their powers. Not all are like that but I know of 2 that delete something just because they dont agree with a person or someone said something about a friend of thiers. but hey I also think mod shouldnt be given away as a popularity contest like it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yes there should be "supoer mods" like other forums. It would be another vote letting the people decide out of the current mods which of them should have partial admin powers. Like half the mod staff. I also hate to say this, but Goddy would be a good candidate. He is here A LOT and I don't thin khe would ban just because he doesn't like someone. He would only do it in extreme cases of TOS infractions AKA chinny. I have said this before.

If you flood or DOS the site, the provider autobans - ( .. right?)

If there's a problem user, mods vote in the backroom on banishment, then admin takes care of it (.. right?)

So what do mods need ban powers for?

It isn't an issue of "trust". Goob doesn't like banning, period. He doesn't like to do it himself except for under extreme circumstances.
