Should i swap out the Type r's?

I have 2 12" type r's in 2.5 cubes each tuned to 35hz each........

power off a orion 2500d at 1 ohm

its loud don't get me wrong, but i want louder....i never thought that i'd say that but i need more spl.

i wanna use these enclosures, as it will simplify everything.........

what subs?

i have a budget of about 400 dollars.....

I can't think of anything in that range. Dual 2 L7's maybe or save a lil more and get some AQ HD312s. There seems to be a gap between subs ~$100 and $300, there's like none in the middle that are worth it.

everyone when suggesting subs make sure you take into account the enclosure its goin into..

thats awful big enclosures for spl,anyway 2 12 re sx's would definitly give u better spl,but on the other hand 2 will cost more than 400 bucks,ive personally run my 2500d on 2 12 re sx's and it was really impressive for 12's

I personally think your wasting your time. No sub in that price range, with that box and power will be loud enough to justify the price v. difference in output.

Lol. .wow dude I'm in kind of the same predicament as you. I've got almost the same box w/same subs and I want new subs to just drop into my current box. I've been thinking about replacing the Rs with something better, not just sidestepping a little. I came to the conclusion that AQs will be well worth my money and have the best price/performance ratio for SPL purposes. The only difference is our amps, and what do you know. . . SXs are hovering in the price range of AQ HD3s. In my book, AQ > RE. I've never played with an SX, but I've seen some perform and I'm not impressed, nor do I see anything special about them. The switch to an SX would be a minor upgrade or even a sidestep depending on the install, but to me, it's definetely not worth the money to switch to.

keep your subs, keep your amp...

build a new box.

bigger port = more loud.

BBP6 w/ a 112 sq inch port has you peaking above 140 dbs... maybe as high as 147.

i have 2 4" aeros PER sub....about 27 sq inches of port per sub...i dont think i need more port area....

i cant see gettin a while new setup either.....im still goin for the daily driver approach.... i can barely get 5 cubes in my trunk, so i dont really have room for much

yeah, i noticed.
you'll notice that my suggestion was for 112 total inches of port, more than twice the port area you have now, and would increase your output substantially... but if you can barely fit 5 cubes, then a port of that size would be out of the question...

displacement + port resonance = spl

more of both gives you more output...

so... you need longer throw subs or more efficient subs... or more subs... or more power... or some combination of the 3. The problem is, it'll run you more than 400 bucks, because those R's are near their powerhandling limit... to get more output out of them you'll need a better box, and since you can't do that... you'll need more displacement and more power...
