Should I run my subwoofers at 2 ohm or 1 ohm?

okay it depends on what your goal of your system is. if you just want a little bump in your trunk then just peice it together...meaning you can normally find a brand new amp that does its max rated power at 1ohm so just buy that and make sure your sub and or subs wire down to 1ohm...it doesnt make a real difference 1 or 2 ohm and honestly i dont even get what youre trying to ask so this answer is even hard for me to type //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/sick.gif.b1847c8dabbfeeddbcf1a78052249e10.gif
Okay, well that helps. I was trying to find out whether there would be any advantages of running my subs at 2 ohm vs. 1 ohm. I need to figure out whether to buy (2) 4 ohm or (2) 2 ohm subs since the 2 ohm subs won't wire down to 1 ohm. I realise that it would be cheaper as far as an amp to run them at 1 ohm. Is it worth the extra money for a better amp to power them at 2 ohm or should I save money and run them at 1 ohm? Thanks, X.

I think you want to know what the pros/cons of 1 ohm or 2 ohm would be on your amp and elec system.

Are you wanting to know whether to run a mono amp or a 2/4 channel amp on your subs? The mono amp will pull less current, more efficient and less heat @ 1 ohm. Not many 2/4 channel amps stable @ 2 ohm bridged.

Some mono amps have the same power rating @ (1 through 4 ohms). So I guess this is a current question @ 1 or 2 ohms?

Hope this helps.

I'm wanting to know whether it would be better to run subs at 1 ohm or 2 ohm and why. That's it. I explained this earlier.

okay it wont make any difference running your amps at 1 or 2 ohm...reason is some amps are made to do max power at different ohms to meet the needs of different applications.

there isnt any real difference...ive ran at .7ohms, 1ohm, 1.67, 4 and now going to 2ohm...no difference anywhere just picking different things...like this time around my subs will wire down to 2ohms and be run off a amp that does max power at 2ohms...and the reason im doing this is the amp is cheaper

I'm thinking I could save money running them at 1 ohm since amps generally have more power at 1 ohm. Does that sound right?

Would I be able to hear a sound difference between a 1 ohm subwoofer setup vs. a 2 ohm setup? I heard you receive more sound quality at higher ohms?

Thanks.
