Should I do it?

Ok I have 2 Camaro's (1994 and 1996) and they both are Stock V6's. One Camaro (1994) runs and has a beat up

body/ interior and the other Camaro (1996) has a great body and interior but has no motor.

My original plan was to just do a basic Motor swap, but then I started reading and watching youtube videos about Camaro's and decided that I want to do a V8 conversion.

It will be lot of work trying to find everything I need, and I was prepared for that, but I was on Craigslist today and saw a 1994 Firebird that had a blown motor (LT1 V8) and the transmission is said to be in excellent condition, it also has a posi rearend on it.

Should I get it with the risk of a FUBAR motor or just continue searching. He doesn't know what is wrong with the motor and I don't want to buy it for the motor and find out that it is FUBAR.

I plan on having the motor rebuilt if it is possible. The guy is firm on 800 bucks and the Firebird actually looks good inside and out. IF I get it will it be possible to convert 1994 Firebird parts to a 1996 Camaro? I am new to this so take it easy on me.

Black Camaro is the 1994 running Camaro

Green Camaro is the 1996 Non running Camaro

I am in the process of selling the black Camaro so that won't be in the picture long unless I need to part some things from it. So I WON'T have 3 Cars for long if I get it. Lol. I just think that if I can get a LT1 motor, Transmission, and Posi Rearend for 800 bucks and a great looking Firebird that is a steal. Am I wrong. Also will this make my Camaro a Z28? Not that I care too much just curious.

I would look for an LS1 TBH. Even though they are harder and more expensive to get. Or, the black one probably has the 3.4 in it doesnt it? If it has the 3.8 in it, those are pretty easy to make decently fast. Even the 3.4s can be made pretty quick for probably cheaper than you will pay for an LT1/LS1 swap.

Yes it is a 3.4, but I am just saying for 800 bucks and the price to fix up and put in the LT1 motor shouldn't be that much especially when I have an offer of 700 bucks for the Black one. FTW, but I feel ya.
nice cars..but the conversion won't make it a Z28 it still won't have the suspension...interior and exterior pieces.......and other things that make a Z28
Thanks, I just wanted to know to gain more knowledge about the situation.

just rebuild your v6, use custom camshaft get it all machined out to a huge stroke and throw on a supercharger throw on some oil coolant lines for your new custom pistons and upgrade your ******. get some big ole fuel injectors a nice strong fuel pump and hook up a laptop to that bish and tune er up with some mad visual basic hacking on that cpu. 2 less pistons and less valves to **** with, once you hit 800whp who cares if its a v8/v6 anyway and then get some slicks.

Swap to the green baby. Moving to a ford motor in that new of a car isnt going to come easy and without more trouble than its worth. I wouldnt buy an engine without knowing I could rebuild it no matter how cheap.

If you work it right that v6 can be just as fast as a v8, times are a changin. I wouldnt mess with the trouble, just work with what youve got

fuck all of that... go BIG BLOCK or go home...

Grab yourself a nice 454/TH400 and have some real fun. Why not sell your Camaro that don't run, buy that Firebird and just build it up instead? That would make much more sense to me!

When did anyone say anything about a Ford motor in this thread??????? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Also, OP, it would be nice to know what you wanna do with this car. Is it gonna be a DD, or just an all out drag car? Or a weekend cruiser to beat up on ricers? Also, what is your total budget for whatever you wanna do?

Doesn't seem like a bad idea

I think he meant Pontiac as in Pontiac Firebird. I want to mod it out and make it a drag/dd/ of course a street racer. lol I plan to spend about 3-4 k to start the car off (running just about perfectly with the v8 swap included) Paint and T Tops can come later.

454's are hard to find around here, and that DOES sound fun. I want a Camaro and the Green Camaro is in better shape than the Firebird exterior and interior. It does sound easier though.

Lol thats bad if he meant Pontiac, because they arent even close to Ford, and it wouldnt be hard at all, since the Firebird has the same motor.

Lol, thats pathetic. Why even waste money on an econobox FWD car? Sure they are fast, but look at the thing, its ugly as shit and sounds like ***
