should i buy some GM stock

They haven't quite turned the corner in perception, unfortunately. I am curious how the possibility of bankruptcy effects car buying decisions.
Perception is hard to turn around. Mostly because trends get set on people keep following them blindly. It becomes a popular norm and that is that.

They already make quality vehicles. JD Power, who surveys thousands of people, and comes up with how many times cars needed to be serviced, gave the American cars good ratings. Ford had the most vehicles rated in the top 3 in initial quality. They have turned the corner in quality.
Right, but they cost $30k+. Make that car for $15k (like Kia) and I am buying.

Not if you consider a contraceptive as cost avoidance.
True. See I don't break it down by cost, only that my willy is wiggling, so I just don't think of the financial pros/cons. To me it is just as easy as saying I am horny but don't wish to be a dad or have a burning sensation in my penor.

The Fusion is over 30k? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif The Focus is over 30k? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Where the hell do you shop for cars?

Why should they cut back advertising? Their sales are down 40%.
their sales arent down bc no one knows who they are or what they have. i think if the govt is going to bail out the auto industry, banks, or whoever that that industry/company needs to make cutbacks. other than just firing people.

I think he wanted to invest in GM because it was so cheap and bank on the fact the company would return to blue chip status.
You may want to invest in Ford. Their stock is the same price and they are not as close to bankruptcy as GM.
yeah why would i want tot invest in honda? if theyre so stable then i wont make much money if any.

there has been a lot of argument over these "big wages" that union UAW workers are paid. Even at 28 dollars per hour (consider a 5 day working week, 8 hours per day, minus one hour for lunch, not taking any holidays throughout the year) that is 50,960 dollars a year plus benefits. \..
i dont know about all the figures he threw out there, but 50 grand a year aint much if you have kids.

Stay far far away from any Domestic Car Manufacturer at this point. The upside isn't there and you've got an easy path to see where you could lose 100% of your investment. 20 - 25% max upside with 100% on th down aren't very good return intervals.
On a personal note I'm rooting that the Federal Government chooses to not extend them the 100B in "loans" and let's them fall flat on their *****. It will finally break the unions back and put 2.5 million workers back into circulation so we can re-allocate resources. We should take the 100B in funds and start investing in energy production.
ok i dont know where you get stock info from, but to get a 25% return on stocks is huge. and again, this is assuming i had money to burn and could afford to lose. im not saying i would take out a loan for 10 grand or something.

I'd rather have a car without those things. I find it more difficult to find a "stripped" foreign car vs. a stripped domestic.
yeah i dont really need a car that has windows that automatically roll down at the push of a button or that has a mp3 jack. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

thats waht im saying. i think the media is as much at fault for this mess, after it got started, as anyone. if the whole entire media says we're in a recession then everyonhe freaks out and makes the situation worse. its like i saw an article the other day fromsome chode saying oil should be over 200/barrel. idiots like that are what are going to drive the price back up.

The Focus is made by Ford but very small. I rode in one a few years back and it was not as "sturdy" feeling as my Civic. There were noticable rattles and creeks. I was not impressed.

The Fusion is nice but it is a Mazda. I have to admit that I do like my friends '08 Fusion SE. It is loaded with leather and all that stuff. He paid around $28k for it. Too expensive for me however.

I drive a '97 Civic. Bought and paid for many years ago and still kicking strong.

Sooner or later I will need to replace it though. When I do, I will be going for max value over brand. I could care less where it was made, if it was made sh!tty. While I would value a US made car over a foreign made car, it is not enough for me to take a "risk" if I felt it was not the same quality.

The US cars that I have liked lately are some of the GM cars like the Malibu and the G6. I am just afraid that the nice design does not equate to a better quality vehicle. I should drive one before I make up my mind though.

I owned a '94 Grand Am at one point and remember driving it off the lot (my first new car) and thinking what a nice car. Then a month later it started falling apart. The alt went within 30 days. The radio was next, then the A/C, and finally the sunroof. I sold that thing within 6 months of owning it. I lost $5k. Never went back to a US car since.

i wokred for kia for a short while in the early 2000s so i cant speak aboutnow but...i wouldnt buy a kia. nor would i take one if you gave it to me. and a kia with decent options isnt 15 grand.

adn if you wnat to use that as a figure, take a look at the aveo or the cobalt. im sure theyre about the same size as the compact kia. but i would never drive a car that small.

first you bash the focus for being made sh!tty and being small. i doubt a civic is any bigger. then you say you will buy your next car even if it is made sh!tty. which one is it?

and the g6 is a sharp looking car. i migh get rid of my tahoe and get one of those.
