Should I be using the auto eq on the 80prs

I don't like what it did with the time alignment ether, but the autoeq does sound ok, I was wondering tho if you should leave the eq flat and let the autoeq work, or set the eq and use the autoeq. I do know some stuff, still learning a ton. I'm still trying to set the time alignment with pink noise by ear.

When i was having trouble ^

Set it to flat. Run auto eq. Also any eq you do after that will be added ontop of what the auto eq did so there a risk of boosting and adding distortion and not knowing it.

I prefer to leave auto eq and time alignment off and do it all manually. youll get much better results. Pretty much the best advice i can give you man is read read read research research and fuck with it nonstop. Youll figure it out.

The auto EQ will give mixed results every time and it will vary with every vehicle and every different driver, you just have to adjust it to your listening preferences. Take off your driver's headrest and place the mic there. The EQ is graphical, not parametric so it wont be precise as you would like it. You can build off the autotune EQ by reducing and not boosting anything.

I dont believe so.

Center stage is a mix between time alignment and EQ. What i did to get a center stage was make a test tone for each of the 16 bands. Then play test tones one at at a time and use the seperate L/R control to make each tone sound like its coming from the middle(or all around you). For example if you played a 1.25khz tone and it sounded like it was coming from the right speaker way more than the left. Then turn down the R a few notches till it feels like its centered and not right-centric(thats totally a word right?)

note of caution. Its very easy to blow tweeters with test tones at even moderately high volume. Keep your volume low when you do this. The last 2-3 tones. pretty much 10-20khz. prob wont be all the audible to you. none the less THEY ARE BEING PLAYED. dont turn up your volume to hear them....Ive blown a tweeter doing this.

Do all this while time alignment is off. Then use time alignment to try to get a center stage.

this should get you pretty **** close to what you want.

Then when your actually eqing the system as whole...like say cutting 3khz down a few notches. If your 3 khz is at L(0) R(-2). When you turn down 3 khz say 1 notch. Youll get L(-1) R(-3). Thats what you want. You balanced your speakers to be center and then your playing with freq to make them sound the way you like.
