just got kendwood KDC-MP438U HU and infinity 3-way 6x9 reference speakers. i am wondering what an amp will do to improve the sound? the speakers handle up to 100 watts RMS and the stereo only puts out 25 watts RMS, right? the speakers sound good until about 30 out of 35 on the volume level, then they start to distort. if i added an amp for the speakers, would this keep them from distorting? it is pretty loud as it is, so im not sure if the speakers could handle much more. but i figure since the HU is only putting out 25 watts where the speakers can handle 100watts, should they be able to go louder? thanks

usually ur speakers distort cause they are asking for more power than the amp can supply. with an amplifer it would definately sound better. it would have the ability to get louder and stay cleaner sounding.

and what he means by tuning is just making sure each speaker plays the notes its supposed to.

if your looking for a good amp this Kenwood would be a great buy especially since your running a Kenwood Deck...It would give you cleaner sound...since it is a 4 ch you could run two ch's to the 6x9's and maybe use the other ch's for a sub in the future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

do you know how many watts it puts out? my 6x9's handle 100 RMS and the thin pioneer 12" sub handles 250 RMS. where should the watts on the amp match up? should they be less than the speakers handling power?
