Shallow mount vs 8 inch vs radical modification

Not sure what you are talking about, but then again it don't matter either.
It's all good bobby

Yup bobby is the only person to give me a thumbs down on this forum (not that I give two shiits)

But I noticed a strong pattern with him, He constantly biitches about stuff he does on the daily, It's actually a trip. when I read some of his posts I say to myself "this dude can't serious"

You either lied on purpose or you are just terrible at math. He has over 670 more thumbs up then I do.

I wouldn’t expect you to get what I’m saying. You get **** from everyone on this forum and you think we are all the problem. As much as you talk **** about Trump, you actually kind of act like him. No accountability, no blame, it’s everyone against me attitude.

Show me where I was wrong and I will own it. I have apologized many times in here. Show me where I started calling people names first. Show me where I ripped on somebody's family. Show me where I told somebody to go kill themselves. Show me where I posted kiddie porn. Do I not post many memes that make Joe Biden look bad?

I don’t care what your political beliefs are and it has nothing to do with what I’m saying. You keep bringing up that **** but we’ve told you countless times how the pedo **** you claim is so far fetched and as far as the killing yourself thing, i still haven’t seen where that was specifically said and even then, it’s the freaking internet. Far worse is said daily so just give it a break. This site is already on life support so quit trying to pull the plug and infecting it with that ****

What Is worse then telling somebody to go kill themselves and the World will be a better place? I didn't infect this site by posting kiddiw porn. You need to talk to your brother Bucko about that.

The 10w7s cost me $499 each

You still getting hosed the 10w7 is at best a $320 sub and morel and focal are generally pushed because they are power efficient and when crossed high enough get really loud which staying clear. The down side is they generally have no bottom end mid bass which no that's not what subs are for subs are for frequencies lower than midbass are designed to play.

On top of focal and morel have stupid high markup. I don't need to dissect the install cost because 99% of the time shops that sell jl/morel/focal all have the same high end charge rates while few of them actually do high end installs

From an installers perspective you sell the high end product saying that the product price=quality then you slap it in the car as fast as you can to make the most money for the time it cost to install. That's just how commission sales work.

Without seeing the rear seat layout and pulling measurements I don't know the amount of airspace available but I'd be almost willing to bet you don't have the airspace to properly port 2 10w7s.

Like I said I hope you are getting that high end install quality because they are hosing you on the equipment

I have 3.2 cuft unless solidworks is lying.

Look maybe you're telling the truth, I don't know. All I know is the Morel Virtus 2-ways I had in 2014 sounded better than literally any car stereo I've heard in my life, and the Focal Flax 3-ways I plan on getting sounded just as good if not better while in the display.

If you can recommend a shop in Palm Beach County then I'd be happy to check them out, but for all the shops I've been to and seen, of all the equipment I've listened to, this is the best option I've found. I'd be happy to find something better, but I'm not seeing it right now.

Not a bad price for them, but for $1000 you would have been better off with 4 Sundown audio SA-8s or 3 X-8s.

I'm sure the system will sound good as long as the install isn't God-awful and that's really all that matters. Finding a good installer is really difficult now. You can't just slap a speaker in a car door and call it good. You also can't just slap 6 squares of wood together and call it an enclosure.

If you are being sold $2k-4k worth of equipment, your installation cost is going to be at least another 1500 if they are doing it properly. Deadener, sound isolation, wire, distro blocks, Fuses, MDF for the enclosure and speaker rings, all of these things are important for a good sounding system.

I have probably 6 hours of work into each of my doors alone. Adding deadener, closed cell foam, wrapping wires so they don't rattle, sealing holes, etc. If you got a 3 way setup, you now have to either add pods to your dash, or use the poorly placed factory location.

A good sounding system is 80 percent install, 20 percent gear. It's taken me 10 years or so to justify spending more than a few hundred bux on a set of speakers or more than 500 on an amp. If I had paid someone to do the work on my car, I would be out an easy 10 grand.

If you were closer to Central Florida, I would gladly throw a small sub in my un-finished jetta and give you a demo of a "properly" installed, tuned, and isolated system. This is a hobby, we need to teach people more and talk down to them less.

That all makes sense to me, except the 4 8s. I'm not looking for SPL, I'm looking for SQ while still having some knock. All the 8s I've listened to lately just do not get low enough. "Gangsta Rap Made me Do It" by Ice Cube is a great demo track for it. "It's All On Me" by Dr. Dre is another one. I've listened to every 8 I can find in the last week or so and none of them can drop the bottom out like I want. They get loud, but they don't get low. Maybe I'm just not listening to the right setups but I've been as thorough as possible.

The install time is a fair portion of the price I'm going to pay, including full dynamat, etc. These guys did my system back in 2014 and they did a very good job back then, which is why I'm returning.

Can you name a few of the 8’s that you have listened to? Did you listen to them demo’d in a shop or vehicle?

Bass is all about displacement. Displacement is calculated by the effective cone area times Xmax of your driver.

A pair of 10w7's has roughly 141 square inches of piston area or a total of 235 cubic inches of displacement volume{70% BL Xmax)

4 SA8 drivers has a total piston area of roughly 213 square inches of piston area or a total of 267 cubic inches of displacement volume(70% BL Xmax).

With the SA drivers you have much more piston area to move air. You also have the benefit of 4 motors vs 2 to dissipate heat. Putting the 4 8's in a ported enclosure tuned down around 30hz would net you more volume and lower bass response than the 2 W7's in a similar-tuned ported enclosure. The W7's only win if you are running the 8's sealed, but you have enough space to port the 8's.

And for the record I completely understand the "loud SQ" system. The 18's I have are underhung drivers ment for sounding awesome. I just happen to be cramming them into a 14 cubic foot enclosure inside my jetta and feeding them 5000w to get loud too.

This is a video of my 4 - 8's. Start the video at about the 30 second mark. That's my box builder playing some music. They cost me $450 total. They meter 148.9 @ 31 hz. and 143.3 @ 25 hz. Is that low enough for you? They are powered by a $400 Sundown 3500 watt amp.

Lol "in the display". Bud the display isn't going to replicate how it sounds in the car. The mids can easily be in sealed pods "in the display" but they won't be in the cars doors the midrange and tweeters are pointed right at you "in the display" but without proper install it's unlikely they will be in the vehicle all the speakers are mounted closely together and at even distance from the listen "in the display" but will be drastically different in the car. The car has numerous points of reflection the display does not. The car has surfaces that absorb sound the display, honestly could have more depending on the display, but at any rate it's different. You could install the speakers hate them and do something like throw a carpet dash pad on and completely change the way the system sounds.

I have never felt the need for a 3way system it's a way for installers to upsell component kits to people with factory 3way kits or 2.75 or 3inch mids in the dash. But they don't usually do anything special without significant install time and tuning.

I don't work with solidworks if you have over 3cubes it's likely you can fit 10s assuming you can fit the mounting depth of the motor. I'm not against 10s or even jl but overall you are buying into high-end names.

Without proper install techniques, dsp tuning, sound deadening where appropriate the equipment will always sound less than ideal.

Buck does some pretty awesome box designs and is quite fair in price. Granted you say you have a shop to do it. I just hope they aren't just building you a sealed box or a high tuned ported box.

Really I hope the shop does good by you but I'm doubtful.

The audio industry has slowed alot at least with online presence. All the forums I know are more or less dead.

2007-2013 was pretty good on here idk why it slowed so much.
