hi its me again just had another question i have alot of clipping from my JL audio component set and my JL audio amp goes into protect mode, I have taken it to wet audio and they didnt seem to fix it so i am trying to do this my self, so i know i need to use a multimeter with ac voltage i just had a few questions first, I have a JL Aduio JX360/4: 4 Ch. Class A/B Full-Range Amplifier

says power ratting is :

RMS) Power @ 14.4 V

@ 4 Ω 70 W RMS x 4

@ 2 Ω 90 W RMS x 4

Bridged @ 4Ω 180 W RMS x 2

and

RMS) Power @ 12.5 V

@ 4 Ω 55 W RMS x 4

@ 2 Ω 80 W RMS x 4

Bridged @ 4Ω 160 W RMS x 2

the power volts is your car battery right, so next i have my JL audio component set and 6x9 to this amp the front are hooked to channel 1&2 and 6x9 to 3&4,

Jl audio C2-650 2-Way Component Speaker System

Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 60 W

Peak Music Power 225 W

Recommended RMS Amplifier Power (per Ch.) 15 - 100 W

System Efficiency 91.0 dB @ 1 W / 1 m

System Nominal Impedance 4 Ω

and Jl audio TR690-TXi: 6 x 9-inch 3-Way Coaxial Speaker System

Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 60 W

Peak Music Power 225 W

Recommended RMS Amplifier Power (per Ch.) 10 - 100 W

System Efficiency 90.5 dB @ 1 W / 1 m

System Nominal Impedance 4 Ω

now both of them says System Nominal Impedance 4 Ω so does that mean i am only getting @ 4 Ω 55 W RMS x 4 that dont seem like alot, ?

one last thing is that is the case in the Jl Audio Amplifier Target Output Voltages says for

JX Amplifiers Voltage Chart

4Ω(or higher) 16.7 V

3Ω 15.5

2Ω 13.4

So do i want the 16.7 knowing the speakers are 4Ω hooked up to channel 1&2

Thanks alot i know its alot but trying to do this my self sense i cant get an audio shop to do it right thanks again

yep, play a test tone (50Hz) and measure AC Voltage on the amp output with the speakers disconnected and the crossovers turned off. use a HU volume that you never exceed.

then turn off the system. set the crossovers, and reconnect the speakers.

50W is plenty. a head unit is good for about 5W.
