Hey,

Recently got myself a 2001 CV p71 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and I need more than just the am/fm radio... I'm not sure what's in the doors (something small - bestbuy says 6x8's but that seems big compared to the covers), 6x9's in the back for sure. I'm wanting some clear sound, but it should also thump. Nothing like a cop car with a system in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Still deciding on a HU... needs aux input as I'm going to put a laptop in...dude at bestbuy was telling me I would want a JVC with usb as the laptop would be recognized as a storage device... i can believe that with a usb key, but with a laptop i'm skeptical. anyone have any experience? Was thinking a mini-din to Y rca splitter to the HU.

I've already got 2 alpine amps: mrv-f300 and mrv-f1000, a 1F cap and an older 15" xplod that i'm going to run until I find something else (sounds pretty decent on the 1000 anyway)

So my question comes with wiring. Been reading around, been a while since I've done an install. I don't know the full specs for the f300 and 1k, just got them but i hear the f300 is 50x4 and the f1000 is 600w bridged. Would 4ga with an inline fuse - run to the back, dist block to 8ga to the 2 amps be enough? I'm going to run the cap on 1k to the sub (or can I wire it to both?). I've run the 1k in my other car off the same wiring setup with no probs off an eclipse hu. needed the cap on it though, power would trip otherwise.

Speaker wire: 12ga enough? Going to run 4 speakers in the cabin for now off the f300 from the trunk, will probably add a couple more later on and run them from the HU directly. (still need to go speaker shopping, but for now i just want to wire the beast). going to measure everything out monday.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I'd use 4 guage all around instead of breaking it down to 8, but running it 4 to 8 would be fine anyways, and as for the speaker wire, 12 guage is plenty big for normal speakers. I've always used 16 gauge cuz its small enough to fit in tight spaces but still more current then the 18. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif
