Setting the Frequency on this amp?

Is this a low pass filter or what?

It's both a highpass and lowpass filter.

It serves as the frequency setting for the highpass crossover if the switch is set to "HP" (and the remote gain control is disabled).

It serves as the frequency setting for the lowpass filter if the switch is set to "LP" (likewise, when switched to "LP" the remote gain is enabled).

If the switch is set to "FR", then the crossover is bypassed and hence the frequency dial has no effect on anything (and the remote gain is disabiled).

This is in a ported box but I don't know what it's tuned to. It's an mtx thunder 7500 jackhammer box.

Alright I did some math and at 1/4 frequency it will be 77.5. I think I might keep it there. Gonna go do some adjusting 1/4 and below.

You are using a lowpass filter.

The tuning frequency of the enclosure is inconsequential.

Tuning frequency only matters when dealing with subsonic filters.

Really, the exact frequency of the lowpass doesn't matter. All that matters is you set it to whatever sounds best....whatever frequency that may be. Just play with the dial until you find the setting that sounds best in your vehicle, with your equipment.

Also, not all pots are linear. Some are logrithmic. So a 1/4 turn of the dial may not result in a frequency adjustment of 77.5hz.

So, in short...don't try to do it by guessing the frequency. Just set it to whatever sounds best.

Oh alright. I didn't want to do something that would damage my equipment. Thanks everyone! I can't believe I went three months without ever doing anything to my frequency lol. I guess I learn somethin everyday. I'm getting the hang of it step by step.
