Setting off car alarms

the shock sensor, as in if someone shook the car

people set them to sensitive, ive seen exhaust set them off

Today... I set off my first car alarm. I wasnt trying to or anything I had the volume on 20 out of 35 which isn't THAT loud. My question:

What causes the car alarms to actually go off?

my exhaust on my explorer sets off alarms sometimes. like once a week LOL

ps i do a 151 at volume 15 out of 40.... oh wait what does that matter if it peaks out at 18:rolleyes:
