I am getting ready to install my polk pa330 to my PHD coaxials. I can never remember what to use. I want to use hpf right? But is it better to set it from the amp or from the head unit. If I set it from the head unit do I turn the knob all the way up? There is no through option on the amp. My sub will be a sundown sa12 but I'm waiting for the box still. Thanks.

Using the head unit crossover can be more accurate than figuring out what the actual setting is on an amplifier dial and, they can be changed more easily so I'd use the hu filter.

And yes, your amp does have a bypass. It's the switch that has positions for HP, FULL and LP. Set it to full.

You could set both if you want. I would choose the one with the better filter if you want to just pick one. Like if your amp crossovers are very limiting, then use HPF on your headunit. The higher you go, the more sharper it'll sound and more midbass you'll lose. Be reasonable and find a good median that sounds best to your ears. I would maybe start at 80hz and move it up to see how it sounds.

That's nothing but an annoyingly common phrase to try to sound smart. Don't say "gain is not a volume knob" until you can explain how it differs...

Sounds like you got it set correctly.
