Hey,

i can crank my new head unit all the way to 62 ( max ) and it works fine, until the bass comes in.

when my bass comes in i have to set it to 50 or 51

Can i set it, or something, so that it only does mids-highs and my sub will do the bass?

just a thought, would make my sound system much louder.

i have a p-600UB

You need to go on e-bay and find yourself some bass blockers.I have gotten a set for like $8 shipped.Attatch them in line on the possitive wire of each speaker not the subwoofer, and you shouldnt have any other issues. My suggestion to you:escape:

Simple problem to solve if your headunit has it. It's called the HPF (High Passive Filter) what it does is cuts off everything that isn't mids and highs. Just turn it on, my headunit for example goes from 80 to 160, and I got mine all the way to 160 and I can turn it up as loud as I want to and the speakers don't distort, and my subs pump the bass. Hope I helped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

why shouldn't i turn it up? just curious, if it goes to 62, and i keep it at 54 or so, that okay?

You don't need bass blockers. Set the high-pass filter for the front speakers a bit higher if that's a problem. Mine are set "high" at 100hz, sometimes I gotta go up to 120hz.

And you shouldn't use the full volume of the HU, because at a certain point your HU will stop putting out clean signal and start sending a "clipped" signal, which can damage your valuable equipment //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif 54 sounds like a safe number, and that's probably close to what you should be setting your gains at. For example, my HU maxes at 35, I'd never play it past 30, and that's for quiet songs. I usually ride around with it between 15 or 20. and I set my gains at 28, which is just a notch above 3/4.

Yeah clipped signals ****. I bought a new 10" Kicker CVT Shallow Mount in July and had the sub for 12 days, played it every day and it blew. Was stiffer than a board. Come to find out, it was when I first started getting into car audio, I had bass boost on my amp, the sub level on my headunit all the way up, the LPF and HPF on the amp and headunit were wack, and it was sending clipped signals like crazy. It's very hard/ nearly impossible to HEAR clipping unless you're like a freakin' super hero or something, so you gotta watch out for that.

But for example, my headunit is a Sony Xplod CDX-GT09 and the settings I am using are: Low: 0 Mid: 0 High: 0 (no seperate bass setting), HPF all the way up, LPF off, Loud setting on, sub on +5 (goes up to +10).

Good luck, don't be a noob (not saying you are) and take care of your equipment. Don't be like me, I thought power was everything you need to make a system loud, but now I know that power isn't a big factor at all like most people say, it helps to have a lot of power, but isn't totally needed for a decent sounding system.

Good luck, have fun and keep it bangin'! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Some people dont have a $200 radio, or the filter adjustments,//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif..Only giving a simple solution that works, even if he hits the loud button accidently,he wont have the bass popping issue regardless if he has the filters in the HU or not, just a safe way to make certain, and it works regardless, and its CHEAP to do/easy:D

Oh yes, true. I think they're on most though, I know he's got a mid-line Pioneer, so it should have it. If not though, Bassblockers are the way to go! Or get an amp and use an HPF on that.
