Setting amp voltage help

Sounds like you have the dual 2 ohm version, are you wired in parallel? If so, 1 ohm load. So, just take the sq rt of 1500 at that point for 38.8v. You'd have plenty of leeway as that amp can do far more before clipping.

In your initial post, you were taking 1500 times 2 when it should only be 1, assuming you're in a 1 ohm load.

Correct, d2 wired in parallel. I've never setup an amp by volt and I was not sure if I had to do the math per coil (x2) or after it is wired (1 ohm load)... 1500*1=38.72 is right.

I hope to have time this weekend to mess with amp settings and swap out components.

tyvm guys

You got it. I've set my gains a million times with a DMM. While it's comforting to know, and to make sure your amp is functioning properly (gain has always been about 1/3 of the way up on my 5v deck) to reach calculated voltage, using your ears is the next best way.
