setting amp settings

should i be using my high and low pass filters on my amp? can anyone help with setting my amp correctly? i have the jlHD900/5 powering a W6 and 4 JLc2 speakers (fronts run at 60 rms and the backs run at 70) im not sure if im supposed to be using the high and low pass filters. this is my first install

Others more experienced should chime in, but you have the choice of running the crossovers on the HU or on the amp. Most choose to run the ones in the HU and pass though on the amp.

One way or another, you need to low pass the sub and hipass the mids. The JVC probably has LPF automatically when you enable the sub outs, so set it at 85 ish and don't use the amp LPF. The mids need HPF on the amp, somewhere around 80 hz is good.

Depends on what you mean by highs. Tweeters need a separate crossover. Coaxials or components with crossovers only need a HPF to keep sub bass out of them.
