I finally did it. I ordered a new 12" Kicker S12L7 in 4ohm DVC, a ZX750.1 amp, and a Pioneer DEH-P3900MP head unit.

I was thinking of going with a sealed enclosure, but i don't know how much loudness, dB,etc. i would lose with a sealed instead of a ported enclosure. Is a ported enclosure a crapload louder than a sealed, which one would hit lower or harder? Which one would you choose?

If it matters at all it'll being going into a '96 Subaru Legacy Outback, or possibly (but not very likely) a '96 Saturn SL1.

How much better is the SQ with a sealed box. Is it noticeably better or not?
In a good sealed box vs good ported box, the SQ with the sealed will be noticeably better, or else they wouldn't be so popular. you have to decide whether you value SPL over SQL and go from there. If you want SQ then yeah, you might want to look for a different sub
