My friend's running 2 12" Kicker CVR's right now and is looking for a replacement. Something with the same SPL would be nice, but is there anything that can go as loud with much better SQ for under 175 per sub? It has to be 2 12" subs. His box is like 3 cu. ft sealed i think. He's got a Kicker KX450.2 amp right now so that will have to get changed obviously, but I can pick the amp for him later. What do you guys suggest for around that price range?

Here's a suggestion - (A) I think 1.5cF sealed is too much airspace for a 12" CVR (B) Your friend is feeding those subs on half of the amount of wattage they want. It's highly likely if he merely increases the available power to them and puts them in a more appropriate enclosure he would like the CompVRs just fine.

It's all about making the most out of what you have rather than trying to fix a broken leg with a bandaid...

But as far as sub suggestions go....

I'm partial to Diamond Audio and the D6 12" sub might be right up your buddy's alley.

He could get a pair of them for $358/shipped from here

You said under $175/sub so that would be $350/pair and my suggestion only exceeds that by $8 and includes shipping...

k thats not bad at all. ill have him take a look at that for sure.

i dono if its exactly 3 cu ft total but the box appeared to be close to that. ill take measurements today.

as far as the amp goes....he figured if he was going to upgrade the amp, he might as well upgrade the subs also. ill take a heavier look today and go from there.

anyone else with suggestions, i appreciate them! thanks

That's a good deal on D6's. I went in a local shop the other day (f'ing bozo's too, wow) and the onloy decent brand they sold was Diamond. They wanted like 5-600 for a D6. I almost fell over. Then when I asked why they had no D9's, his reply was "nobody can afford those yo". I told him I could buy them nib all day long on the net for less than $500 and he said dealer cost was more than that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif Ebay has them for less than $350 any day of the week... that shop prolly wanted like $2k. lol

Oh and they had one of those stupid Memphis subs with the double stacked frames, he quotes $1200 for it (10") and said "it has extra spiders for more cone control, its a SQ sub".

After that we argued abit about manufacturer specs (he's one fo those know-alls that goes strictly by specs, rated THD and dampnening factor are everything to this guy) and then I left. The funny part Im confident I walked out of the place with this idiot thinking he'd just educated me.

assassins sound good too.

what about some TC stuff, or eD 13Ov.2's? I know the ov.2's would have much better SQ...but would they get as loud?
