Got 2 4 ohm 500 rms subs, when I run them parrell to 1 ohm they'll stay at 500 watts each, when I run them in series down to 4 ohms does the watts change? Got a 1200 watt amp says it runs 1000 rms at 1 ohm

Nothing changes with the subwoofers. They will always be 4 ohm 500 watts.

What changes is the amps output depending on the ohm load.

then they will be wired to 1ohm. At least that is what they should be wired too. Should be a wonderful match with a little headroom depending on the amplifier.

When setting the gain on the amplifier set all EQ's to flat, no bass boost, no loudness, amps bass knob all the way up. Turn your head unit up to 3/4 volume on most head units and send a 40hz -15db signal to that sub amp. Set the gain so the output voltage on the terminals is at 31.62v. This will give you 1,000w @ 1 ohm with some wiggle room for more volume on the subs.
