I'm trying to install new 6 x 9's in a 2000 neon. the problem I'm having is that the panel covering the existing speakers isn't coming off and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. does anyone have any advice about this?

Where are the speakers located?

If they are in the rear deck, you might have to take the whole back seat out, just be careful and take your time.

IF they are in the side panel you still might have to take the seat out.

There is probably some clips or a screw that you can't see or something.

yes the back seat does need to come out in order to get to the speakers. Reason being is that the rear deck goes down behind the back of the back seat and is held on with some pop tabs. Only thing is you usually need to take the bottom of the back seat out in order to do it right.
