Ok, i have a 2004 ford F-150. (I have pics of it in the gallery). I am having Mike465 to build me a custom ported box for 2 12" subs. Please look at both of these designs and tell me what you think. All feedback is appreciated.

This first build has my amp mounted in the middle which connects dual chambers with 2.12 cubic feet after port displacement per chamber. The ports are is 21 square inches tuned to 34Hz.

The second design is more of a stealth box. A common chamber box, with subs down and port back. The subs will be 2.25"s off the floor so you don't have to worry about them hitting the floor. The box volume is 4.05 cubic feet after port dsiplacement. Port area is 48 square inches tuned to 34Hz. This box takes up less space than the first one and is more efficent.

section cut plane, ooo.
Option 2
Yea i thought that 4.05cf with 2 12s is more efficient than each 12 in a 2.12ct box. Also, this is goin into a regular cab f-150. Im barely fittin either box in lol

i like stealth.what kind of affects will firing the subs down have? how far from the floor do subs need to be to fire down?
Its gonna be about 2.25" from the floor. This is plenty for any sub seeing that most 12s dont even go near 1" od xmax. I will be interesting to hear the sound, i think it will be louder since the subs will be firing directly down, so it gives the sound wave time to travel, then hit the floor, then travel back upward. This should make it seem louder as the sub will have more time to reverberate before it gets to the ear. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

x2 on the stealth.

Fawk it, have both built and try them out, because the recession is just all talk! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I know you got that paper!
LOL, good observation, but i gots some paper for one box and the rest of my current xtra paper is goin to books for this semester. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

I see all that money go down the drain for books, and I think," Man that could of got me 2 RD Audio Alpha 12s." lol

very interesting. i was thinking of down firing to keep everything stealth but never heard a setup done that way. i wasn't sure if it would lessen the sub output.

Weel I dont have a PHD in Audio Physics either //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif. Its just all of my speculation based upon what little i have studied about sound. I caint wait for it to be done, i wanna see how its gonna affect it. Ill post it back on here with my observations //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
