i have 2 12's in a ported enclosure in my trunk in my 2 door coupe. last night, i was fiddling around finding the right spot to place my enclosure figuring out the best location for spl/loudness. before i watse time shuffling the box around more and unplugging wires, i wanted to know if placing my subs on the top of my backseat facing toward the front of my vehicle will sound the subs louder (spl)?

its a 2 door honda and the backseats fold down. the enclosure will be sitting on top of the backseats with amp in trunk. let me know what you guys think:santa:

First off... ghetto.

But besides that, it really depends. Vehicle acoustics are a strange thing, probably only somebody with the same model honda who has played around with it could help you. Might as well go ahead and fiddle.

yeah, putting the subs in the backseat would be louder than having them in the trunk... but that would be pretty unsafe. they could be stolen very easy, and like Twistid said, they will go flyin around if you brake or turn hard.

no, they probably wont be louder in your back seat, and will probably sound like shit

you guys make good points. risk of thieves and unsafe for driving conditions.

if not that, then how about pushing the subs all the way to the back of my trunk and have it face toward the front of the vehicle?

About a box hitting you in a crash. My uncle got hit in the back with a 6x9 in a box when he rolled his bronco, and it fractured one of the vertibrae in his back. That's a little 10lb box at most.

Definitely not a good idea.

my girlfriends dad has a serious rock crawler and he was on a trip a few years back and they were at pismo in another guys jeep and the guy put it on its side and the tool box that wasnt secured hit one of them in the head.
