One Alpine Type-R SWR 1242D Enclosure Help

I know your trying to help me with ideas, but I dont know much about fiberglass'ing, and my friend and I would rather build a box out of mdf 3/4" wood, but what happens if I just make the cu. ft. to like .5 smaller. I mean, it cant be THAT bad/big of a difference from a 2.0 and a 2.5 if it will sound good both ways. What does everyone think?

Plus, what is the cu. ft. of that box design and at what hertz should that be at on the amplifier?

Ok, look, you can try it, no problems with testing and trying things...we really don't know exactly how well it'll work untill you try it...It ain't gonna be perfect, but you can do what you can to get what you want, which for mot is more output...if you need more space you will have to try something else, I.E. Fiberglass.

To be honest fiberglass isn't too hard, but you can make it easier if you take the time to learn more about it. Check out tutorials and whatnot, get all the reading material you can, there is a lot of information on the net. Check out work logs, and everything else you can think of.

Maybe you could try to build the box inside of the car, wrap your head around that one. Just jump in your car and look around and get ideas. figure it out for yourself, we can only guide you.

Later.

there is no hertz on the amplifer, if a box is tuned to 35 hz, it'll have a higher output at 35hz and higher, any lower and the port unloads, and acts as if there wasn't a box, and doesn't sound good/loses output...but for most people 35hz is low enough, and "hits hard" enough for Daily drivers...

Yeah, thanks though. Ill figure out something, but I think Ill stick with building a box. Whats a good cu. ft. number for a Type-R, and is there any other designs smaller that someone can help me with? Much appreciated.

Holy crap, Im so glad someone pointed me to that thread, theres so many box designs that it lags/slows down my dial-up computer, lol. So Im definitely going to pick a box that is 2.0-2.5 cu. ft. for sure, whats the top best ones everyone agrees with, and what hz should I be around?

Thanks so much.

I need to know the thickness of the woodsize in that pic.

The size of the front board (for the sub to lay on).

The diameter of the sub cutout/where it needs to be.

I hope the picture I have above helps.

Thanks.

Alright, I kinda thought it'd have to be. Im not good at math haha. Or at least Im not anymore.

How about the other lengths of the front (from sides to bottom/top), the hole diameter cutout, where the cutout should be at (from sides and bottom/top) and such?

Thanks.

Also, will 2.5cu.ft. at 32 hz play lows good (for hip hop mainly, little rock/metal). Im hoping it will wang hard and hit the beats great.
