One Alpine Type-R SWR 1242D Enclosure Help

Well, keep in mind, I was satisfied with my Rockford P1's with the gain all the way up and such, so Im looking for that kinda noise but a tad louder. Im actually thinking of going with a Alpine 650 amp now, bc I really dont think I need 700+ RMS for an amp.

MAIN QUESTION: Will 2 Alpine Type-R's work fine/good in a 1.25 sealed enclosure each, as in my dual enclosure Q-Logic box?

Thanks.

prefab boxes FTL.........and 1.25 IMO isn't enough. I'd go 2-2.5

you can try it and see if your satisfied, but nobody has your exact same car, exact amp, sub, and exact box so we wouldnt know how it would sound. Besides, it will sound different to us because we may have high standards.

If I were you, and you dont have the room for 5 cubes, I would just do one single type r and port it, in 2.5 cubes. I would not leave them sealed. I tried them sealed for like a day, and was not impressed AT ALL.

If it helps you decide im throwing a 2ohm 12" Type R into a ported box something like 2.25 32 hertz with the Hifonics 1206. Im going to wire it for 1ohm and keep all gains down. I ge the amp and sub tonight so ill let you know how it sounds. Oh also this is going in a RSX-S.

Alright, I played around with my Rockford amplifier some more, I put it back on low-pass, but with the Bass Booster down and the gain all the way or at half-way, theres no bass AT ALL, so it sounds like shit, so I left the gain on all the way and the Bass Booster too, whether its killing my amp or not, it sounds better that way. Also, the hertz or whatever goes between 40-400, and at 40, it sounds like shit, so I left it on 400 bc all these settings are whats making my subs hit good. But, I will most likely get the Type-R and the MRP-M650 amplifier next month. As for the box, it will have to be 2.0-2.5 cu. ft., since I have a small trunk and I need little room for little things, and it will be ported, and I will let you all know when Im ready again.

Once again, I REALLY appreciate everything everones done for me! Thanks!!

Alright guys. I finally figured out exactly what system I want and I got some pictures from my cardomain account of my audio setup and trunk, because I havent gotten around to getting measurements of it. Here are the pictures:

The first two pictures are how I had it before I changed them to face the cabin and did the custom back of the subwoofer box. But that enclosure is a Q-Logic Type 1. Here is a link to it for reference and size.

IMPORTANT!!

This enclosure barely fit in my trunk through the top/back, and theres no way I can put it in through the front/doors, so it HAS to be the same size or less, and Im in luck, because that enclosure is a total of 2.5 cu. ft., so Im told the sub box should be around there. Here are the dimensions of the box:

Dimensions: 33-1/4"W x 15-1/4"H x 14-1/2"D1 x 9-7/8"D2

NOW, what I decided to go with, thanks to some members, is:

Alpine Type-R, 12" single subwoofer

Hifonics BXi1206D Class D Mono Amplifier

Now that I tried to get all the info as I can for you guys to help me with, I want the best boom and bang for my buck in terms of this subwoofer and amplifier, and I just need help on the enclosure/box. Im going to need more than a 'tune to 35 hz with 2.5 cu.ft.' because I dont know how to do that.

Maybe if someone drew out in paint/photoshop the exact dimensions of the custom box that is needed and WILL FIT into my trunk, I could possibly throw in a little 'help money' if it truly is what I need to build this custom box, unless someone offers me that they will build me one within these specs, which is what I prefer. And at what hertz and cubic feet shall I go with this?

I would really really appreciate it if more of you awesome car audio enthusiasts helped me out more. :)

THANKS!! :)

I believe that will fit in your trunk. Check out moe lesters stickied thread. It even gives you what pieces you need for the box. All you have to do is put them together the right way.

Alright, that design really helps. I think its even smaller than my current 2.5 cu. ft. dual 12" enclosure, since it says its less than 30" wide, and the one I have is about 33".

What is the total cubic feet of that whole box, where do I need to tune the amplifier to, and I just need to know how far from the port and the other side of the box should the cut-out sub circle be, and how big does the circle need to be for the Alpine Type-R?

PS: If I were to custom make this, how much would it cost about total for the wood needed at a local shop?

Thanks again.

Ok, I just looked at the design more, and I dont think it will fit. The dimensions for the bottom and/or top, is about 17.5" long/width, my box right now is about 14-15" for the bottom, and it was a VERY tight fit, and I doubt 2 more inches will fit...does this mean, its not going to work?

Alright, I suppose I can try that, but with my current box, I could barely, barely fit it with all the ways possible me and a friend tried. So Im very skeptical.

No, I mentioned earlier in the thread I cant put it through the doors/front. I have a picture I linked up there, the front of the subs, showing the its too small to fit an enclosure that way. I dont know what to do. I just really doubt something that big will fit in my trunk. Is there any way I can go smaller? Box designs, ideas?
