Old dude needing design help

To keep the Kicker theme going I would put that sub in a 2.5cu ft ported box tuned to 35 Hertz being run by a Kicker KX mono amp (400.1 for example). If you are not going to see the amps then your options really open up. Then it depends on your budget what I would recommend. And yes, I would use the 4 channel for fronts and rear speakers.

Another thing to remember is that older cars have smaller alternators in most cases compared to now. So I wouldn't go crazy with the size of the amplifier unless you plan on upgrading the electrical which can get expensive.

This 5 ch Kicker amp would be the perfect amp for that install in a classic car ..it’s a shame Kicker don’t make any amps like this anymore //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I have a robust electrical system with upgraded wiring and use relays for lighting and LED lighting so I have good voltage stability. The Main 4 channel is bolted to the rear seat fire wall trunk side. . With some finesse the additional amp has room on the same board. I have a ported box at least 2.5 CU ft but it's not tuned. I don't intend to break the welds on my car nor blow out the glass. I want to feel my oldies in the car the way my home studio speakers feel. I will look into that unit and any other suggestions. I do like the Kicker AMP.

The biggest recommendation is no speakers in the rear deck ...only grills ..With the L5 in the trunk that’s all you need ..the rear deck grills will let your bass vent into the cabin ..you need a good set of speakers components up front ..and proper position is important ..you want your system to sound like your sitting at a classic rock concert ..not speakers in the back deck that sound like your walking out the door ..

Placement is limited. Only options upfront are door speakers, which currently does not have on this model but doable , vent pods and there is a center middle dash spot also.

I’ll sometimes use the center for fill on radio power ..I did that in my 73 Convertible Mustang..I have an off axis tweeter on each corner of the dash that reflects off the glass ..I built some custom kicks to House two 6.5 speakers in each kickpanel ..since my car has extremely rare power windows ..only 3.4% of 140,000 cars made ..I decided not to mess with the door panels ..
