show me an example of where a setup gains exactly 3db when ported.

It all depends on tuning, box size, cabin gain, everything.

You can't just say "3 db"

True, that is a general assertion and the gain occurs around the port tuning frequency. It isn't always 3 dB though!

yes, i do. Ummmm, in your opinion though.......do you think my subs are seeing enough power? I just want opinions because i guess i don't know how loud 1000 rms should sound like?

is this with the probes touching the pre outs on the head unit? Or the amp

Since my subs don't get loud at all with the gains set correctly i am wondering if it could be one of the following problems?

Crappy RCA cables ( i run the scosche ones from walmart with the single strands)

Head unit Problem

Does anyone think these could be good possibilities why my subs have low output?

I run Radioshack RCA's, and I've also run JLs in other people's cars (they wanted it...) and I couldn't tell a difference at all.

So, unless your HU has a low pre-out voltage, you're running the wire right next to the power wire, and you just **** at life, where you get your RCA's won't really matter.

ok, i'm going to shoot a video right now without the grills, so you can see the flex and stuff. I will do two songs, one with real low lows and the other with a little less lows. I will be back in about an hour with the vid. Then you can really compare it.
