NOOB- Speaker hole is too small(4") ...cutting bigger hole?

Check how much clearance you have between the inner metal panel and the outer plastic door panel. Mine were meant for some small round speakers but I had my old 6x8's from my last car so what I did was draw the outline of the speaker on some mdf and use a jigsaw to cut a baffle to mount the speaker to. I glued the baffle onto the door panel and mounted the speaker to it. Larger speakers are only large in the front, they tend to drop off in size towards the magnet so that should fit fine. Let me know if any of that didn't make sense...

and if your doors are that thin. Tin snips would be your best bet. Get some heavy duty ones from the depot and you may be alright. Then return them after and get your money back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Not hard to modify it for 5 1/4" speakers if you want to, you may even be able to make a spacer out of MDF just to go under the speaker and make it fit. Generally bigger speakers have better low end, but if you have a nice sub stage i wouldnt worry about going big. Esp for 5x7s or 6x9s. 5 1/4"s will sound great in there, but if you want more low end up it to 6 1/2.

OH guys, im not sure if i specified or not, but im NOT planning on cutting the plastic panel that covers the door....im planning on taking that off, measuring my hole, and then cutting the sheet metal ONLY....only thing is, the new speaker is bigger then my stock plastic panel speaker hole...idk how to explain this, but those tiny small holes that cover a speaker are only 4" wide....will this muffle my sound at all and make it sound bad?

No, it will be fine

As has been said, measure the maximum depth before cutting anything. It would be a shame to cut up your door for nothing.

I'd have no fear of cutting the door a little, but I'd upgrade to 5.25" or 6.5" speakers if I were you. There are lots of affordable 5.25" and 6.5" component systems that sound nice...

Just make sure the speaker's cone or surround don't hit the door panel while in use. Also, if there are sharp edges around the interior area of the factory opening, remove them with a Dremel or utility knife and sand the area smooth...

Hey Misfit!>...thanks for the advice and pics....anymore pics would be greatly appreciated...and also, i dont see how the speakers would rub against the plastic door panel, bc if i cut the hole bigger, the speakers will fit in the opening....but then again, i am a noob to all this, so i may not be getting what your saying....thanks for the advice tho, and more pics are always appreciated!
