Let's get this thread back on topic - I've read that early 90's good, after that commercialism took over on their speakers and quality took a hit. Amps have been and continue to be solid..I'll add that their amps over the last few years aren't as overrated as they once were, and dollar for dollar there are probably better options now.

troof, their amps are rather expensive. However, they're not really bad for what they offer, there are plenty more amps that cost more and offer less.

Meade uses their amps..

i personally don't like RF amps... they are so vastly underrated that you don't even know what your getting... yeah sure someo f you would say more power means more headroom... but say you want a 1000 watt amp and you end up payiong a 1200 watt amp price at RF because all of their 1K amps do at least 1.2K... I'd much rather pay for a 1000 watt amp and get a 1000 watt amp then pay for a 1200 watt amp with a 1000 watt amp sticker on it... but other than that they r solid amps...

What's wrong with having more than what you pay for? They do give you a birthsheet so you know exactly what you're getting. Besides, if you set the gain right then there'll be nothing wrong with having a shitload more power.

Old School is the best RF stuff..however..I've heard the "25 to Life" amps are good and they came out in 2005 (i think).

It seems to me the only thing RF does good anymore is amps. Particularly the 25 to life series and the one steve meade uses. I heard one powered up at a car show and it sounded like a earthquake. The navigator was flexing all over. I was impressed

An amplifier being under or overrated is not a function of its quality, its a function of the marketing department.

I would only go power series in RF. I used to have a 10 inch HE2, they were decent. Oh yeah it was a punch 10 HE2.

I remember hearing the punch he and hx subs in like 2000 and they sounded terrible

Ok, admittedly, I have not been very active in car audio for some time. In reading the posts in this forum, nobody seems to be using Punch subs. Can punch owners chime in on quality of the various RF subs. Heck, anybody chime in.... im open to all suggestions.
What is wrong with these subs? back in the day, they were the sheit.

Amps that you can only get from the manufacturer, wiring kits that can only be bought knu from that one company. It's like Bose right now. It's the best thing you can go get from a big box. And for their prices, you can get a lot more.

HX2 is the only thing i would ever use. ive run some punch p2s and they ****** balls. they make a lot of mechanical noise and dont get loud at all. the power series isnt worth the price either.

It runs deeper than that. When RF started selling through BestBuy, they sold 2 different quality standards. The "800aII" was sold at BestBuy, while the "800a2" was sold by their old b&m distributors, to name one example. Same specs, RF didn't even acknowledge there were 2 different model lines. But when you cracked them open it was obvious they were different, and the BB models were cheaper.
That is when RF really started going down hill.

I ask because i started paying attention to car audio in about 1985. I couldnt afford the crap, but i watched. i remember this Trans Am(Yep, Smokey and the Bandit style) that had 4 punch 10s in the back and that thing was incredible.

Punch was only available at select car audio stores. Now it is in Best Buy and everyone seems to hate it. I was just wondering what happened from the mid 80s through the mid 90s?

Zapco and Punch.... that was the stuff a 16 year old dreamed of back then.

Yeah true. I ran Punch crap alot back in the 90's, everyone thought I was an audio god because of it. *shrug*
