Newbie: Multi-channel or mon amp for new set-up?

I'm a newbie to car stereo installation and I'm looking to replace my factory gear in a '99 Civic HB with:

Alpine CDA-9885

Infinity Kappa 62.7i

Infinity Kappa 692.7i

Bazooka BT8014 (or a Sony slim sub or something else ?)

Alpine MRP-F250

The Alpine amp is multi-channel but do I need a multi-channel for this set-up? Do I gain much? Or does the head unit power the speakers just fine and a mono amp would be plenty for the sub I settle on?

Again, I am new to this so any advice or info or help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

Nice, thanks a bunch for the info...

I'm assuming the 5 channels is for the 4 satellites and the sub right?

Do I want an amp that can handle the max RMS of each of my speakers & sub?

Just want to make sure I get decent sound of this set-up...

Thanks again...

you dont want an 85w amp pushing an 85 watt speaker you should always leave like a 5-10 watt cushion the second one i misread that would be to much for the 62.7i

the crunch wouldnt be enough to make the sub pound. but it would be enough for the 4 speakers.

as for the sub output you should go for like an 8" kicker cvr or cvx or even an l5 if you want something under 200 watts.

but that sub would be overpowered by the crunch

let me eat dinner and ill help find a good sub.

I'm more of a "sound quality" guy but of course need to have some pounding going on along that...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I had originally been looking at the Bazooka subs (as they are a nice size for the hatchback), that and the slim Sony subs, so it's nice to know I wasn't too off the mark...

Is it a problem that there is no crossover built into this sub?

I was under the impression that a crossover was going to help the sound quailty in my setup...? Plus, I was hoping to not have to install a seperate crossover box...

Again, thanks for the help, I really appreciate it...

the amp has a built in crossover so it seperates the signals the 4 channels are midbass and tweet and then the sub out put has a filter so it will only play the bass part of the song

technology is amazing isnt it.

Well, I thought under $500 for everything minus labor but that seems to be pushing up to about $600 right now, which is where I'd like it to stop if possible...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I'd imagine that trying to put in a new head unit, 4 new speakers, an amp and a sub for under $500 is **** near impossible, right?

It's for my commute car so it needs to be good (as the radio just ain't cutting it) but not SEMA good...

I figure if I have to stretch for it now, it's better in the long run...

The install costs always hurt too...

Say, is having Best Buy or Circuit City install this stuff a waste of time? Will they just screw it up? How about these InstallCard's things I just saw?

your better off just reading about installations and trying it yourself

besides if you do it yourself you get experience

and yea 500 including installation is stretching but if you do it yourself you should be good,
