New sub smell...

So I finally got my fu750v2.0 15 all hooked up and bumping. 3.65 cubes @ 31.5hz. Its wired down to 1 ohm and I'm feeding it 800w rms. This thing wangs nice! Wayyy deeper than the two CT Sounds Tropo 15s sealed. That being said ive been beating on it pretty hard and I'm getting a funky somewhat burnt smell. The dust cap gets warm but definitely not hot. I know what burnt voice coil smells like and this is NOT that. It's still making me nervous tho because the sub doesn't even have an hour of bump time on it yet! For the most part I've only ever used sealed boxes with new subs so this smell is new to me.

My friend told me it could just be excess CA glue being burnt off but I don't know what that smells like lol if someone could try to describe that smell I would appreciate it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Friend is right. I would double check gains just to make sure it's not clipping

We were rushing cuz he had to start another build so he didn't get to throw his dd1 on it to check. I used a dmm to set the gain but I did have my HU up at 95% (Kenwood kdc bt555u) 33/35 so maybe I should turn it down a little till I can have him check it.

Most kenwood clip past 32

**** so I guess I'll retune it at 30 just to be on the safer side!
i don't go past 29 on my hu.. i assume u don't have any bass boost on hu or amp right? if so turm that off.. may wanta stay under 28 on heavy bass songs for 10 days or so anyway just to let it break in..

My Kenwoods never go past 30 unless it's a really low record level track.

And for the record, they don't put extra glue on subs that you need to burn off. If you're smelling something burning it's something getting hot enough to change its chemical makeup which is shortening the life of your woofer. You may still be able to play like that for years, but still, let's not sit around and pretend that this is something that's supposed to happen. Smelling something burning means it's time to ease off on the volume for a bit.
