Time to retire the perfect sub

I have been out of the game for a while now, recently I decided to put a system back into my work car, an old honda accord. I pulled my old infinity perfect 12.1 in ported enclosure, out of storage and as things go I got to looking at all the newer stuff out there, (newer being a relative term). anyway I would like to upgrade to a newer sub. Power I have available is 750 to 1500 depending on which amp I decide to use. I like tight punchy bass thats clear and controlled. Probably stay with one sub because of price. I used to have two perfects but blew on up on a spl test, launched the coil through the cone at 135db. any way I would appreciate some recomendations. Looks like the ssa Icon would be a nice fit but hard to get a hold of one, any other good sounding reasonably loud subs that would fit the bill to replace the perfect.

icon gcon good subs.. u can look at fi alpha 3" coil ($169 shipped) and ssd? depends on customizing $259-$329+ shipping FI makes the ssa subs.. if u trying sealed look at dayton subs parts express.. if u want loud ported FU 750 12 $169 shipped made in us only sub i've seen with that basket all other subs have 1 of 3 of same ones..

thanks , anyone know anything about the Fi SSD Q? is it really worth $100 more than the standard ssd?
u talking about neo's? do u have power for that? i meant regular ssd with some options would easily handle any 1500rms amp.. wasn't sure are u doing ported?

I hear good things about all the subs mentioned, makes it a hard choice. IMHO most subs that I have tried anyway that were built for sealed or ported boxes sounded better in ported boxes, including the perfects. It may just be personal preference I suppose I havent liked a sealed box sub since the original kickers, yeah Im dating myself there. Seems like sealed boxes enhance the ultra low end at the expense of the upper bass frequencies. I like rock so a nice tight punch from the kick drums is just as important as the lowest register.
