Looking for new sub. I didnt listen on here last year and got a JL 10w6v2. I must have high SQ but want more SPL and 12" . Looking ssa gcon, ssa icon, sundown sa-12, re sex12, morel ultimo sc,etc....

Need a daily driver sub that will sound clean with all music and still hammer lows. Budget is flexible but would like to keep under $400. Main issue is trunk space. Box wether ported or sealed cannot really be bigger than 1.50. Need to save as much as possible for kids and work. All input is greatly appreciated.

Amp - Alpine pdx-m6 (680 rms at 2 or 4 ohm)

Music - 40% Rap - 30% House/Club - 30% Hard Rock

Car - 2011 Chrysler 200

dayton huh? didnt even look that way. You think this over the gcon? I was thinking gcon sealed but havent been able to find reviews on how this would do sealed.

You could always build a ported enclosure for your current JL W6. Otherwise, I would go for the GCON if you want to do a sealed box. Sundown SA-12 if you are going ported.

If you have your current sub in a seal enclosure, then, I would suggest porting it first and see if you like what you hear, then take it from there...

The JL W6 is ported and the foam surround is ripping off. I am getting rid of it and didnt give me enough ported.

Need a little deeper sound and spl without giving up a lot of SQ

Image Dynamics IDMAX12 V.3 D4 (idmax12v3d4) 12" ID MAX V.3 Sub

Boston Acoustics SPG555-4 (spg5554) 13" Single 4 ohm SPG Car Sub

but this would be my option, still amazing sq but a lot more output and you will never find them for these prices

and you can get a spg-tr for 60 bucks and double output and in only a one cube box and get the response of a ported enclosure

Boston Acoustics SPG-TR Component Car Subwoofers at Onlinecarstereo.com

so my option would be the boston acoustic but the image dynamic would also be a better option than the other ideas also

Hum, I was interested in the IDMAX before but I dont think I can swing 2.0 cu ft for the ported. How would it do sealed? The boston spg555 is interesting and I will need to read up on this. Would the radiator be cut out and mounted on the other side of the box from the sub?
