well guys i think that im done with the 18" Q in 9.3 cubes...its up in the FS thread here and if i can find a buyer im going to go with something new and possibly totally different.

Right now the only idea i came up with was 4 AA assasins in close to 5 cubes ported tuned to 32htz. I would want to do a box that is about as tall as the back seat in my grand cherokee, and about as wide as the rear hatch so that the box looks as if its an extension of the rear seat. (subs firing up, port back maybe?) so im also looking for someone to design the box and build it for me because im still at school (PESteele on the build?)

any other suggestions? budget would be about 400-500 on sub/box....amp is going to have to stay the same for now...lanzar opti1400 D....

if i were to stick with the 4 AA's what would be the best way to wire them?

well i just looked and the AA assasin 10" is a SVC 4 ohm, so 4 of them in a series would be a final load of 1 ohm, each of them getting 250 watts RMS...but how would they sound? and whats going to be the differnce moving from 18" of cone area to 40"

I personally like 4 tens in comparison to the 18". You’ll get a lot more “punchier” bass.

But I don't know much about the AA, although I here good things.

Ironically I just designed a box for my cherokee that is to your specs for 2 12" fi Q's

And a box for my friends Grand Cherokee for a set of 12" AA.

lol 18" of cone area to 40"

Honestly, I think you'd be better off with the 18"... It'll go lower, and probably have better output. I went from 3 10" CVRs off about 900w to a 15" L7 on 1000w, and the difference was incredible. The L7 was louder, lower and flat out nastier. Although I must say I miss the 'punch' that the CVRs had. I'm not too sure how an 18" Q sounds but the L7 has more of a dull thud, whereas the CVR's had a real punch on quick hits.

I think the output of 4 10" Assassins won't be quite up to par with the 18" Q, but they may posess a tad more punch. But I can only speculate, seeing that I've never heard either woofer.

Personally I have never liked 18" drivers, although it really depends on what your goal is.

If you what to move alot of air while playing low notes, 18" drivers are great (depending on the tuning) I would assume that for spl comps this would be the way to go.

If you want to "hit" really hard within a good slope of your tunning multiple 12-10's would be my advice.
