New Guy looking to upgrade from BONE STOCK

Wiring & Box : $100 (Knu Konceptz wiring/build own box)

Components: $87 (Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5s; ebay)

Sub-woofer: $115 (JL 12w0v2-4; ebay)

Amp(s): $129 (Cadence TXA 3004; Cadence outlet store)

Head Unit: $150 (Kenwood stated)

Dash Kit/Harness:$50

Total: ~$631

This would be a very nice system IMO. Unless you are looking for crazy BOOM, then you don't need much more than this imo.

If you are looking for shaking the neighbor's house, then get a Type R and feed it ~800 watts.

o yes if you are running comps you need to sound deadener!! if you don't comps will be pointless kind a like not amplifiing component speakers!

also don't forget to do the big 3!

ground battery to chassis

ground alt to chassis

ground engine to chassis

and MOST important of all run a FUSED wire from the alt to the + of the battery!!

and don't forget to use 1/0 wire or bigger for this!

the big 3 is good for ALL cars no matter the setup!

Is there a barrier between your rear deck speakers and your trunk? My car is a metal sheet there. If there IS, you can either drill it out and remove your rear speakers, or use the rear speakers as mid bass.

people say don't use the rear speakers because without them, you can go ACTIVE. however its not recommended for beginners.

I'd suggest a good pair of coaxials for the front, unless you plan on doing time positioning with the tweeters to aim them correctly. a GOOD pair of coaxials will be better than components that lack proper installation.

grab a crappy pair of rear deck speakers and use them for midbass.

As for subs, I'd suggest kicker CVR, alpine type R, RE, IDq

Cadence is good, check out Sundown as well.

If you get the infinity comps mentioned below, make sure your amp is 2 ohm stable.

Basically, Check the classifieds section and look for anyone of these options, they're all good, just buy whichever one presents the best deal/price. IDq is good, but if you find a pair of RE's for dirt cheap jump on it!

PS

There is someone selling wiring harnesses and dash kits. He has a very good sale on them. It wont be 50$.

I know you have your heart set on these big name brands. So you can impress your friends but don't be a duplicator be an originator. Make people copy you it's much cooler.
Don't get the Alpine Type R get this instead:

You CAN NOT run component speakers off a head unit. That would be like buying a Mustang and putting the motor of a Smart4Two in it to go fast. You will need 2 amps OR you can buy a 4-channel amp and use the front two channels for the components and the rear two channels bridged for the sub-woofer. It'll be better for you budget to go with a good 4-channel amp than buy two cheap amps. Surf the forum's for a good used 4-channel amp.

For a front set of components look into as many brands as you can locally then buy the ones you want online.

You'll probably spend $100 on wiring and supplies. The box even if you build it will probably be around around $50.

So right now with the set-up I've given you here's your budget break down:

Wiring & Box : $150

Components: $150

Sub-woofer: $80

Amp(s): ~$300

Head Unit: ~$200

Total: ~$880

So if you plan on doing the install yourself and getting someone to help you. Then, you'll make your budget. So don't get caught up on a Alpine Type-R that's an extra $50 more just because it's more mainstream. I'm fairly certain that RE Sub will push just what you're looking for will be easier to power and be just as clear and loud.

yeah i think im set on geting 4 speakers matched up to a 4ch. amp from lurking on the forum.

yeah..real fill and what not i guess but my car is pretty small and im just a novice looking for a step up from stock.

cool

and social stealth, i'll get back to u if im interested in ur kicker. but for now im still lurkin the forums

i think i wanna go with rearscar is small.

and no i don't need to be in the back seat to hear my rear speakers

i can hear it from..driving
The point is not that you would have a problem not hearing your rears. The problem IS hearing your rears which will pull your soundstage towards the rear.

Do as you wish. It's your car, have fun.

I don't mean to be a dick... but everything people tell you to do you don't listen. You're 17 and you've got your heart set on impressing your friends and seem to think your way is better than that of people with high end systems and multiple years of experience.

For instance the Alpine Sub you want is a good sub however it needs a good amount of power. With your budget you can't really afford to power that sub while maintaining good mids and highs. We tell you that you don't need rear speakers and you are being stubborn and wanting to get them. For what? When you go to a concert, movie, show, play, or speech 90% of the sound comes from in front of you. Go look in the mirror which direction are your ears angled towards?

Buy either an Image Dynamics or RE Audio sub they're cheaper you'll be able to power them adequately for you budget. Then invest in a good set of components and power them properly. Since your car is small, this is even better for you because then your passengers will still be able to hear the music. Overall if you just stop being stubborn and listen to all the good advice people are giving you, you'll have a system that sounds two or three times better than what you are trying to throw together.
