New Box design

Well guys, here's the plan. I have a friend that's got an extended cab ranger with 4 12's in it right now. He is currently hitting a 142 all sealed up. However, they are kicker crv's and I have convinced him to go to just one 18" BTL. The thing is, he has been looking at Fi for a while and wants to get a couple of SSD 10's as midbass. Now, this sounds like a kick-*** plan, but I was just wondering what you all thought about the idea. I haven't figured up the box yet, but it will be massive, and the 10's will be above and slightly to the side of the 18, which is facing foward, and they would be in their own seperate .5 cube sealed boxes. The 18 will be running off a Memphis 4k, and the 10's will be off a powerbass ASA 1000.1. Just wanted to know if having SSD's for midbass would be a good idea?

Hmm. A 10" sub isn't going to cover any midbass range, even though lots of people do it, including steve meade, a great system builder.

Is a sub-woofer a mid-woofer?

Do you understand what the frequency response of the driver is?

That would have been helpful to know in your first post dick. If you know so much, why didn't you post it to begin with. And there was no reason to call me a jackass just because I have a life, and it's not revolved around this forum. And you know what, there is a lot of people who think meade is a dumass, but he still does **** good work.

BTW I havent seen a setup of meades were he has used a 10" sub-woofer to cover any mid-range....link?

I do believe that is a 10" subwoofer for mid bass.

I can almost guarantee that is strictly for the wow factor, as you can see by the excessive placement of speakers. BTW that is not meades vehicle, he built it for someone else.....

They must be ran ib also, which is even more odd to me, seeing as there isnt an enclosure for them in the doors. Not familiar with the drivers that are going in that location though. Not something I would do........

Nowhere did I say it was his vehicle. I only said that he put a 10 for midbass in one of his builds. And he obviously needs that many mids and highs to keep up with 8 18's on 15,000 watts, and not just have them for a "wow factor".

You could do a 4 way system--18" BTL, 10" Woofer (I wouldn't use SSDs, but a real (non-sub)woofer), then a midrange and tweeters.
