New Box design

A 6.5 is not unrealistic, but it is if it's crammed in the a-pillar. Anyway, getting back on track, this kid has 4 batteries and is going to run this btl off a memphis 4k. Would he be alright? I don't understand everybody and their volts dropping because i'm running 800 watts to my bl with a stock alternator and not extra batteries and the lowest i've ever dropped is 13.7.
Yeah he should be fine, do you know what size alternator?

Still with that amount of current theres no way your going to power it with 80amps, could be why the amp blew lol

I would definately look into atleast 200amps he wants to do it right

the amp blew because of the 4 guage wire and not using 0 guage, and I don't really care about sound quality that much and I don't really see whay everybody is because it takes way more skill and knowledge to do a sound quality system and nobody on this site has either one of those, because people with tat skill and knowledge don't waste their time with stuff like this. Who cares if it would not be the best to have two tens as mid bass, yes it is for a sort of wow factor because when people see it they will se it as awesome and appreciate the system and not trash on it or atleast a real car audio enthusiast would not

You just proved that everything your buddy said was wrong.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Midbass is suppose to be part of your front stage, it is localizable after all. All this arguing over what Meade did.... notice they went in front doors? Unless you really dont care if your system stages well at all, and just want pure loudness, keep the midbass in front where it belongs.

Can a 10 be run as midbass? Sure, hell there are 15" home audio 'midbass' speakers out there. But, not just any 10" subwoofer designed to reproduce subbass will also work well as a midbass driver. I'll be installing twin IDQ8's in my doors one of these days, originally sold as a 'subwoofer'... but their freq response lends them very well to midbass. Will the 10" subs you are considering run flat up to 300-400hz, in your 'small sealed enclosures'? Highly doubtfully.

If your friend wants kick *** midbass, and who doesn't, stick with 8's in the doors IB. The right drivers will reproduce up to any level you'd consider SQ still being audible.

Can you recommend a decent set of 8" drivers to be ran ib? I was looking around trying to find something a while back and couldnt come up with much.

Also, with the 8's you will have in your doors, will you be running a dedicated sub also? If so, what?

You would probably be better off looking at true midbass drivers. Many companies make solid 7-8" midbass units. Im particularly fond of ScanSpeak Revelators right now, but they aren't cheap.

Yes, even with two 8's in each door, I will be running dedicated subs. A pair of 05 xxx 15's. Those, plus the rest of my front stage being very high efficiency (horns + proaudio mids) meant needing substantial midbass to keep up. But I know even with that, at some volume level the subs will likely still drown out my front midbass.
