New battery

I have a crappy 540 amp battery and I get large voltage drops when I have my car off and am running a pass in MECA. My amp also goes into protect at around half volume, and i've set my gains with a dmm, that's with the car on, I have a sucky alternator but I think it's cause battery loses voltage and what not. I have the chance to get an optima redtop 850 amp battery for $78, but I don't know if that will help my voltage drop with the car off and I don't know if that will stop my amp going into protect, will getting this battery help me?

that is a good buy on that battery anyway. some amps (for example: i have an xtant 4.4 in my boat) will shut down if they dont see enough voltage. if that 4.4 doesnt see more than about 10 volts it wont even turn on. it could be that you drain it to that point and it shuts off. also how old is your battery? it might be time to change it anyway. i have three to change in my boat this weekend.
