CES is the Consumer Electronics Show. Imagine 150,000 people - all trying to make deals to sell or buy consumer electronics. Car stereos, home audio, cell phones, TVs, you name it. If it's a consumer electronics product (something you can buy at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. - minus the computers) it's at CES.

You can register at http://www.cesweb.org for free up to November 30th; after that, it's $75. It's open only to those 18 years and older, and in the business. You have to be a dealer, manufacturer, distributor, or someone who works for such a company. It's not for the general public, and you can't buy gear at the show. It's strictly to bring manufacturers and dealers together so they can start selling/buying after the show.

Needless to say, it's a lot of fun, too... All the big names are there, you'll meet a lot of great people, see a lot of new products, and get completely overwhelmed. Four days of pure confusion, but it's something that simply must be experienced once in your lifetime!
