Need the perfect subs, help? :D

^hifonics 2010D stock electrical

wired to 1 ohm, first time it blew, and second time it f*cked up.

now it's at 4 ohms, i neglected to mention the sub still works, just when it gets anywhere near loud the amp goes into protect mode, i've been told because it was burnt to some degree

looks like you also fucked the amp if its going into protect. what does you electrical consist of?

pull the sub out and check the coils to see if they are bad

im all stock, just kicker zero gauge to the trunk, no hi output alt, no extra batteries.

upon "professional" inspection i've been told 'one of the voice coils is burnt' and that is why the amp goes into protect, and 'at least didnt hurt the amp'.

then again, this is coming from the same people that set my gain and did the install to begin with, here the problem lies

..."burnt to some degree" Doesn't mean you seperated coils, but it doesn't mean they're fine either. Rather vague if you ask me. Either the coils are whole and it plays or they're fried/split and it don't do anything. You should be able to smell them without question. The stench is horrible. If not, grab a DMM and measure the coils ohms.

That sub shouldnt have blown on that power unless it was clipping, incorrectly tuned, or you were playing it full blast(while clipping it) below your tuning, so what was it?

Recone the audioque and figure out what's wrong before you sink more money elsewhere, sir.

it was tuned to 36 hz, the gain however was all the way up practically..

it's already been reconed once, kinda why i was asking everyone for some other ideas :)

i know theres a myriad of rather harsh circumstances that caused the sub to fail, but i was really looking for something else anyway..

Tuning fine - box size?

Gain all the way up? Starting to see an issue.

Who reconed it?

The fact is, with that Hifonics amplifier and a stock alternator, stock battery, no extra electrical, you're probably dropping well into the 11 if not 10v range full blast, which WILL clip the SHIT out of your amplifier and drop it into protection. This can A) burn the amp up or B) burn the sub up if you're not careful.

If it plays fine but "causes the amp to shut off" when it gets loud, I dont think your woofer is currently your problem.

First off, go to another shop, evidentally the shop you're dealing with is blowing smoke up your ***. Secondly, what size is your stock alternator? How big is the stock battery you have? Before you spend ANY MORE money, go and buy yourself an extra battery or two. The C&D Techonology batteries that are for sell on here are pretty beastly. Two of them with the car off should hold that amp above 12v for better than 10 minutes. Remember that you do, however, have to charge them back up somehow.

box is 3.3 cubes net

digital designs reconed it

stock alt seems to be 110 amps

i personally believe the amp is fine, and the electrical is fine as well, for what thats worth.. i've never had a problem with the amp and it never went into protect until the sub was cranked up one day. and ever since then whenever i turn the volume up, as soon as a nice note hits the sub will begin to play it, then it goes into protect with the little red led acting like a middle finger.

i think it was the gain, because it's just a hair from being all the way up.. i had no idea

The amp doesn't sound fine. Also you aren't going to get 2000watts out of a stock electrical
