Tuning fine - box size? Gain all the way up? Starting to see an issue. Who reconed it? The fact is, with that Hifonics amplifier and a stock alternator, stock battery, no extra electrical, you're probably dropping well into the 11 if not 10v range full blast, which WILL clip the SHIT out of your amplifier and drop it into protection. This can A) burn the amp up or B) burn the sub up if you're not careful. If it plays fine but "causes the amp to shut off" when it gets loud, I dont think your woofer is currently your problem. First off, go to another shop, evidentally the shop you're dealing with is blowing smoke up your ***. Secondly, what size is your stock alternator? How big is the stock battery you have? Before you spend ANY MORE money, go and buy yourself an extra battery or two. The C&D Techonology batteries that are for sell on here are pretty beastly. Two of them with the car off should hold that amp above 12v for better than 10 minutes. Remember that you do, however, have to charge them back up somehow.
