need Subwoofer help!
in the right box yes it could be louder. im betting the other guys your refering to all have prefab boxes. my wife has a L7 15" in her focus on like 750rms and it does pretty well for what it is. good option would be a the newer HDC4 15, these subs are mosters. 1 of those in the right enlcosure on 2000watts rms would be very nice.

Im curious as to how you fit a 15" in the trunk of your Focus. I have a 2012 Focus and the only way I'd be able to fit is sub up , port back

And that's your problem and greatest competition. If the guy who built the boxes for the JBL GTi knew what they were doing, you're really not going to stand a chance with any of these subs. You're talking about a true David & Goliath scenario there. best bet is to find something with superb low-end extension as that's really the only fight you're going to win against him.
So based on that, the two competitors on lows would be the HDC4 and LI. Or, if you're willing to do a single sub setup and spend a little more, look at doing a single 15" IA Death Row. About 3.2 cubes and 32Hz tune would work really well and would probably stand up against the JBL a lot more easily than the LIs.
none of those subs will beat em? i thought those JBLs were more towards a SQ set up?

People tend to use them in SQ setups, but they're a beast with two backs. They can be refined and articulate on a medium amount of power or you can throw them 2K+ each and make them slam. One of the best subs put out in the past decade IMO.

let me just say it was fun, it wouldnt have been so bad if L7s didnt like such big boxes.... we had to removed the top plate and take out the back seat panels, the back part of the back seats and all that stuff then put the box in through the back seat hole then put the top plate back on and re seal it through the trunk but we got it in their. it was our fault tho because we miss measured and stuff. theres a couple of vids on my older youtube channel.
@Dtrom ; do you still have the photo of the 15" DP in your trunk?
Yep. Loudest I've gotten in that trunk was this design.
