need some tough subs!!!!

now one thing that im having troble understanding is the ported boxes that are posted in the free box designs sections...

if the sub needs lets say 1.75-2.5 cubic ft and a recommended tuning of 30-32 i just pick one of the boxes thats within the size rang with a tuning freq. of 30-32 and thats it?? that should be pretty easy to do with the drawings of them...

I ran a Fi BTL 15in in a proper enclosure in my grand prix off 1400 watts before i had the proper electrical and it was substantial upgrade from anything me or my friends have had. The BTLs are very strong and very efficent, and can get loud with less power. Just because a sub is rated at 2k rms doesnt mean you need to give it that. Also dont worry about those guys coming in here saying dumb stuff to you. Hes just upset you didnt want his subs.

enclosure/install is what makes or breaks a system. The BTL is a great driver and Fi has good CS. Like someone said before the Q is also a good driver if you would prefer something in a sealed enclosure.

With your budget you can get a good range of subs (new) that will do you justice. Companies Id look into is FI, AA, DC, IA, SSA, ID, AQ and theres a few more they all have subs in your budget range.

yes thats pretty much what you need to do, say the sub call for 1.75-2.5 if you are going to be putting the max rms power to the sub I would stick to the lower end of the size (1.75) if it will be under powered a bit, say it is 2000 rms and you will only be putting 1300 to it I would go with the largest of the recommended enclose specs(2.5) to increase efficiency.

I'd get 2 12's since you seem to be a basshead. the louder the set up the shorter amount of time you'll be playing it full tilt. Depending upon how much power you plan to throw at the subs: AQ SDC's, DC level 3's, and FI Q's are all subs that will get respectably loud off 1200-1500watts for the pair.

Definitely go ported for the enclosure.

There's a comp May 9th in Sheboygan, come out to that one and hear some of the brands mentioned and decide from there...

I'm having troble finding the specs for the audioque subs on their website?? is there something i'm not seeing??
Your silly.

my bad, what i meant to say was i don't see the box volume cahrt they speak of in the specs vs real world section...

i just want to figure out how big of a box i need for 2 12's

ok. so we have another BIG problem.

my girlfriend had a volfenhag 15" left over that she never used, so to hold me over until i get some good subs/box i threw it in my car and wired for 2 ohms giving it 550rms....

but after i blew my subs and i took the amp out of the car i noticed the fuses in the amp were blown... i didn;t think anything of it and just replaced them... so i hook up my new sub and reconnect the amp and when the head unit turns on the amp i hear 2 loud pops and see smoke coming out of the amp!!!! the fuses are not blown and neither is the inline fuse under the hood...

could my amp have taken a crap and blew my subs along with it? or vice versa?

my amp and my subs are blown all in one swing... i just don't get it...

is it worth it for me to try and get this amp fixed???

thanks everyone
