Need some help modifying dash Kit. Pics inside.

Something constructive: you will find higher grit sandpapers at auto stores such as AutoZone or Strauss, rather than at Home Depot. Have fun with your precious $8 kit.
This is over a kit that costs 8 dollars???

I have no idea what he paid for the Scosche. He said the GXE costs 10x more, and the GXE is ~$80. Just doing the math.

Holy shit...I get two calls over a friggin ca.com thread started by somone with the IQ of my fingernail. Anyway, I'm going to ignore the flame fest because its a scosche kit and MANY, MANY, MANY fellow maxima owners know does not fill well in a 5-5.5 gen maxima. I FEEL EVERYTHING HE HAS STATED SHOULD BE NEGATED DUE TO HIS PAST ACTIONS BECAUSE HIS REPUTATION PRECEEDS HIM. I AM WRITING IN CAPS TO GET THIS POINT ACROSS: THIS GENTLEMEN GOT SOME WORK DONE ON HIS CAR MONTHS AGO, AND ON THE WAY HOME DECIDED TO CANCEL THE PAYPAL PAYMENT DUE TO 1 SMALL THING THAT WAS AN EASY FIX WHICH WAS THEN FIXED. (he did end up paying) WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND DOES THAT? IS THAT HOW THE WORLD WORKS??? NO!!!!!NOT TO MENTION IT WAS DONE TO A VERY WELL RESPECTED MEMBER OF THIS FORUM AND ANOTHER ONE I AM ON...HE MAY HAVE EVEN POSTED IN THIS THREAD. THAT IS ALL.

uhm slick rick. Please dont post things that you have no idea what you are talking about. I cancelled payment 3 years ago because I thought Don was not an authorized dealer. I verified this by calling Directed Electronics and they suggested that I cancel payment so that is the first thing that I did. Turns out later that he was an authrized dealer and I looked up the wrong name. I repaid that same day. I was new then and didnt realize who Don was, I apologized and I have a lot of repsect for him. He does incredible installs. But that is none of your business slick rick because I dont even know who you are and it was between me and the installer. Like I Said PLEASE DO NOT POST ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD UNLESS IT PERTAINS TO THE TOPIC. Nilesh I dont need you to be calling all your friends to come here and support you. NOW PLEASE DONT POST ANYTHING ELSE HERE UNLESS YOU ARE HELPING ME.

the reason I have so much crap crammed there is because that is where you put it. I paid you an install fee that you said you needed. The install looks like crap. I told you to be done with this thread a long time ago. Stop posting sh!t on my threads when Im asking for help unless you want to help me... I paid you what you said you charge for installation! Ireelevant of the cost I assumed thats what you need to get it to look good. Im sorry if you do not try to make an install always look good. DO NOT POST IN THIS THREAD AGAIN UNLESS YOU WANT TO HELP. BECAUSE IF I DID THE SAME ON YOUR THREADDS I WOULD BE BANNED ALREADY AT MAXIMA FORUMS. IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT YOUR INSTALL PM ME OR POST ANOTHER THREAD ABOUT IT.

And Don please dont post also unless you can help me out. I have nothing against you and you are a great guy to deal with. I just feel bad now that I didnt get you to install everything for me, I think the extra cost would be worth it.

IBTL?

meh, if i was close to the north east i wouldn't hesitate to get my shit installed by djfrestyl OR 6spdcoupe. i know they're more than capable for doing audio installs.
No one asked your opnion about this. Why are you even mentioning 6spdcoupe for? Please dont post here also unless it is relevant. Thanks.

The reason I posted this here is because I want some actual help and not have the same 3 people ruin my threads all the time. If you want to help, help otherwise dont post here.

Its $20 plus install. fee. The kit is fine with the max it is made for it. No one knows the gxe kit will be fine either because no one used the Z1 with it. And what do you mean this is over blah blah blah. I posted this thread asking for modyfing a kit. Please look at the topic.

I didn't call, PM, text, telegraph, IM or smoke-signal a d@mn person.

The KIT is made for a single din. The GXE has a bigger opening, no need to dremel. The Z1 comes with a trim ring that would fill up the gap instantly. Then, all you would have to do is drill the holes further back (not diagonal as you have to do with the Scosche) so you get your beloved flush look.

There is no other place to put all that stuff, and that is the best it can be. Sorry if it's a little tight, but it was your choice to have all those accessory units. If you look I even placed the bluetooth near the shifter rather than back in the dash.

If the kit is $20 why did you say it's 1/10 the cost of the GXE? I'm just doing YOUR math, buddy.

So what exactly is the status on your modification job?

Your are very ignorant for asking people to not post in this thread because we are not helping. this is a public forum so wake up and smell the burnt subwoofer coils. I can post w/e I want and you can too so stop whining. Defaming someone over something this small (and cheap) is comical at best. yes there were some risks going with the scosche kit and the specific unit you chose. IMO the scratches are bad but for the price of the dash kit install, which from hearsay was free, should be not complained about because it was free.

I too agree that the scratches are uncalled for. The point of the matter is that in order to get the kit to fit how you want it, much more work has to be done on it, one of the processes would include paint.

some pix of my dash I just took. My close friend, who is a great installer, spent over an hour doing custom drilling into the stock metal bracket to get it to look this way...and I paid him for the dash install. Every time you put back together a scosche kit in a 5th gen with a bunch of wiring back there...it will never come out exactly the same. I spent $6 buying this dash kit off a friend because I was not willing to pay close to $100 for an OEM dash kit...but I DID know the consequences of that and yet I am happy with the results. The only issue here is the scratches, and thats it.

well what do you know no big *** gouge on the face of it and.... it fits quite well, can tell when someone does or doesnt know what they are doing...
I said the issue is with the scratch. the fitment issue is a problem...trust me the GXE dash kit (OEM) is much better in fitment and color matching. I got lucky and my unit came out decent hence I have kept the scosche dash kit. moreover, this specific pioneer unit will NOT fit properly with this dash kit without custom work done to it. the customer was informed of this multiple times prior to the installation and IMO for a FREE dash install NO custom work should be expected. eventhough every scosche kit has to be a "custom" install because it does not fit right.

Well what do you know, he has a single din and dremelling is not necessary.

If I were to build it up using bondo and filler, it wouldn't have scratches on it either.
