need help system is MESSED up

ok so today i helped my buddy fix his system in his saturn SL-1

consists of a pioneer HU, one set of RCA to a amp for 2 10' infinities and 4 sets of 6.5 coax audiobahns in rear deck and doors. also he added a coaxle 2.5 or 3 something of that sot inc in the center console (one on each side)

he had his power wire just strung on side of car not under carpet and the wires for the center console speakers and RCA and amp turnon were run through the middle of hte car to the trunk

so we put power wire under the carpet and we put the rca speaker and amp turnon under the carpet in the middle of the car and ran it to the trunk. now we braided or twisted the 2 speaker wires and the amp turnon together not the rca that was separate and ran it that way

also his xover on his rear speaker had broken in half (only a small board with 2 caps or something on it) so i tryed to fix it for him. scraped off the covering on the board and re soldered the tinsels together. re wired the rear speaker with fixed crossover and hooked amp and subs back up

now here is the weird thing, we turn ont he radio and all we get is static and distortion at low volums. the rca didnt work either. so we turned it off quickly and i cut out the fixed xover thinking it was the prob. well it wasnt it still makes the noise and RCA doesnt work. so i did something dumb. i popped my pioneer hu in to see if it was his hu. the xover was uninstalled still so his drivers side rear stage would not work but that didnt matter we wanted to see if noise was gone and rca worked. well on my hu the volum had to go higher to get the noise and the rca's would also not work

what the hell is going on? i can not figure it out for the life of me

first of all is the amplifier turning on? second are you sure the rca are properly connected?

also 4 seats of speaker?? thats 8 speakers plus 2 more he has in the center?

no sorry liek 2 in rear deck (one left one right) and then a set up front in the doors then a small 2.5 or 3 in the center console

so its 4 total 6.5 and 2 3" ones. so 2 stes of 6.5 and one set of the small ones

and yes the amp is turning on, the light is on, but the subs wont move

yea the rca was properly connected

hmm dunno then sems like you have some trouble shooting to do . you sure the amp works fine?

yea amp worked an hour before we started working. but that in itself wouldnt cause the speaker noise which never happend before. whateve ris causing the speaker noise is also effecting the rca in some way

is it becase pioneer head units are teh **** when it comes to bad rca grounds?

what do you mean? why would it happen to 2 considering my rca outputs worked last week when i used it last? and his worked an hour prior

well you need to explain that better so you are saying all this stuff was previously installed and worked fine?r

yea i thought i said that but yes everythign in the car worked fine untill we reran wire to under the carpets and fixed the xover

Hi its my car that crzy was workign on. I had the speakers subs amp and headunit all installed and working for 6 months. The only thing was we just ghettoed the wires in there before and didnt bother putting them under carpets. So today all we did was put them under the carpets and Crzy rewired the back. Everything looks correct but to eliminate the back as in issue we cut the rear stage off completely. The front speakers are still makign this terrible static noise when the headunit is even turned up to listening volume, and the amp is recieving absolutely no signal. For the most part the wires are in the same exact places they were before we did this except now they are under the carpet. I have no idae. Especailly when the same thing happened with his headunit installed. Two hours ago everything was working fine now it sucks horribley. I am clueless but any suggestions on troubleshooting would help very much.

are the speakers running off of an amp or off the headunit?

so your speakers are running off the head unit and the sub is running off an amp

you have a total of 6 speakers 2 in the doors 2 in the rear and 2 more in the center console does the sub sound ok? and just the speakers messing up or vice versa or does everything sound crappy? its kind of hard to tell with the descriptions .i would just go back and double check every single connection you guys touched .something is not hooked up right also make sure the subwoofer out isnt turned off on the head units

we disconencted the rear speakers already and as we both said the amp isnt getting a signal at all there is no noise comming from the subs and no movement. The center console ones were spliced off the rear lines so they are also disconnected. Currently the only thing connected is the front two speakers and they sound like shit. With everything connected they all sound like shit and the subs still dont work.

so the amp has power, but no music is coming out? i would say find someone with a spare head unit and plug theres in and see if that fixes your problem.
