Like is the Watt RMS on amps suppose to equal or be more than the Watt RMS on subs?

You said Alpine subs but hifonics amp, i was told it is always best to match sub and amp brand..

is that true?

no. It's always good to equal or overpower your speakers at least a little bit. ( this is called headroom.) More headroom is better, and makes the speakers play to there max potential easier and they will sound better as well. The Type R is rated at 500 rms, but everyone can tell you it can take around 1000 rms daily. Just because a speaker gives a rating does not mean it is exactly true. You will notice many brands are overrated/ or underrated. It's good to buy the underrated brands because they won't explode on you for pushing them a little harder than there max rms ratings. I would suggest you do a little more research though man, good luck.

You gave us your budget, now get A type R or maybe two of them if you can fit em. Buy a hifonics bxi 1606d amp and be done with it. Your ears will be ringing if you get this setup, and it will make your kicker's you want to buy sound like crap. And port your box.
